David, may I use this photo?
Sure
Can I please have the article from the 6:30p update where it had stated how this incident fire possibly started? You changed what was witten from the 6:30p update and id like to know that information again please. Thanks
Just drove by… Looked like it was up in the hills above dazys/bigfoot burger area.. About 10-15 different forest and fire service vehicles at the bottom of Friday ridge road and 299.
Grapevine says it’s out 6 N13 , be safe
Sounds like you’re saying “the grapevine says it’s “out”…
The fire is not “out”. Not trying to be disrespectful, just to be clear.
But, I get that your saying it’s “on”, or “along”, The 6N13 Forest Service Road.”
Feint signature on radar around 4:20, you can watch to see if it develops. Monument and River are cooking right now. If you find this later click on the 6hr or 12hr animation option.

HOW DID THIS START.
Hard saying.
Not really.
Not lighting…
9 out of 10 wild fires are caused by humans
-Smokey Bear
Don’t you think if that info was available she would include it? Firefighters don’t have time to look into cause when there’s an immediate threat to life and property. BE PATIENT.
There’s an ‘Oak Knob’ up there.
No lightning… so either somebody set it/illegal burn or maybe had a house catch on fire.
Dunno.
Could have been a firewood cutter on one of those spur roads in that area..
Pic from friend
There are some amazing pilots!
Getting to see it up close and personal.
The K-Max ship.
Good shot!
Oh Geeze, I was wondering what the heck they were doing flying over, Im right at the county line on Seely. The big orange albatross was flying low inside the river drainage. No water bag, just looking I suppose. This was approx 5 pm. Thank you all so much for the priceless updates and info. We certainly didnt need another one. Ironically it was right when the smoke cleared or lifted.
Has anyone been by Dazy’s and can send a picture update from the 299 from there?? Family home near there, would really love an update.
Has anyone been by Dazy’s or Bigfoot Burger on the road and could take a picture from the 299 up the ridge? Family home near there and would appreciate a photo update! Thanks!
Photo was posted about 7:10 above.
It’s 1/4 mile west of dazeys
Seldom Seen, those bug helicopters suck water up with those tubes hanging
I just thought it was a boy helicopter
Yes , thanks Jacquelyn I walked up a bit ago and there was torching and I could hear trees crashing. Eerie when it is so close. So many folks are losing their homes and farms.
Dad saw Bigfoot there. Box canyons. Friday Ridge. No joke.
From Willow Creek p.o. just now
Looks like you got good clearance out front.
Still, that’s way too close.
Great coverage Kym! Those of us in the hills sure appreciate it.
Another fire started by careless people.
More like careless company. Can you say PG&E. I’m hearing it was started by a downed powerline.
Not this time. Pg&E has its last pole about 3 miles south of the farm where this started.
No powerlines anywhere near there.
I’m glad there are resources readily available to jump on this one.
Where can I find updates for this fire? I have a family member up there and cant find it on CalFire Incidents yet, Any comments or info is appreciated!
Its a USFS fire, wont be on Calfires info. Look on the USFS Six Rivers NF facebook page..
I have many friends and family that could be devastated by the direction this fire takes. Hopefully the amount of resources in the area and the local response will tame the beast by morning. As usual Kym is a go to source of information for people in the path of these fires and their friends and family trying to keep updated. Kym wrote another piece in the fire section right before this, humbly asking for donations so she can keep up this incredibly valuable source of information. I start with Kym, then inciweb, then cal fire incidents, also Willow Creek Bulletin and Trinity Alerts on Facebook. Kym manages to compile all that and more fire maps etc from other sites. From Somes Bar to Hayfork to Covelo, the entire Emerald Triangle. She is a valued local treasure and could use a little support, hint hint. Check out her last fire article.
Correction, in the Can you Help section.

Are residents along the South Fork Road in danger of the fire jumping south fork of the Trinity River?
not tonight, but we are definitely in danger on SF RD if this is not controlled quickly.
Thanks again, Kym, for having the latest skinny.
Glad we could help!
the 2021 “competition” complex…. I think some grower lighting these to jack up prices…
Any updates on how close to town it got last night?
This pic is from the top of titlow hill we can see smoke
