[UPDATE 9:47 p.m.] Reported Five-Vehicle Crash Closes Northbound Broadway in Eureka, Traffic Diverted
A reported five-vehicle collision has shut down northbound Broadway (U.S. Highway 101) in Eureka this evening. Law enforcement is diverting traffic around the crash scene. The collision was reported at approximately 8:49 p.m. near Highland Avenue, just north of the Shell station and south of the Bayshore Mall.
According to Caltrans QuickMap and witnesses at the scene, all northbound lanes of Broadway are currently closed. Eureka Police Department officers are directing northbound traffic east onto Truesdale Street between the Shell station and O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Any traffic exiting the Bayshore Mall and wanting to go northbound is also being diverted southbound to avoid the closure. As of this report, southbound lanes of Highway 101 remain open.
Scanner traffic and CHP incident logs indicate the crash involved five vehicles. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and the California Highway Patrol requested traffic control while officers managed the closure.
The extent of any injuries has not yet been released.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area, expect delays, and use alternate routes until the roadway reopens.
