At about 5pm, the fire blew up, threw a bunch of burning embers over a mile and about 10 spot fires grew together into this wall of flame. Picture taken just over South Fork Bridge from Trinity County looking west to Friday Ridge Road in Humboldt County. This picture was taken by me from my yard. I have yet to receive any structure protection assistance. I know they’re stretched thin. Note to residents: you may be on your own in this kind of fire season.
Call 911.
Tell them you need structure protection and your location.
Tell them anything you think you need to to have some assistance.
It’s one thing I would have done differently in my Monument fire battle.
They never once came to me, but I never once asked.
I hope your home survived, TRB, and that the danger has passed.
And I’m glad your OK.
The danger to my family has only increased with the Knob Fire.
“They never once came to me, but I never once asked.”
It’s kind of like the power of prayer.
Reminds me of a fire on Red Mountain near a friend’s place, in 2016, I could see the smoke column from near my home. I prayed hard for help to come for them. On my way home, there was a fire very near my own home, that I helped to extinguish, and at that fire I chided the battalion chief for being spread too thin, due to the Red Mountain Fire. A few days later, I saw my friend’s dad in the store.
His homework had been spared.
I told him that I had prayed for them. His response was, “What good could that possibly have done?” I reminded him that over 400 Firefighters showed up on Red Mountain the very next day. He said nothing after that.
I respected your request to not pray for you directly, but I did not exclude you in my prayers for safety from the fires for everyone, so you were included indirectly. ?
Sounds like it was very close.
Like I said,
I’d hoped you’d fare well.
I hope you fared well.
If you defended your home single handedly, that is quite an accomplishment. Much respect.
The Lord helps those who help themselves.
Hope you receive help
How does it look over there this morning?
Not to good. It crest lord Ellis the morning and heading into blue lake sit tight.
Is this true information?
No. This is the map from this morning. The fire was at the time this comment was written not over Lord Ellis
Please keep trolling and misinformation to articles about covid vaccines. Misinformation about fires really could get someone hurt. I left the eastern boundary of the knob fire about 2 hrs ago. My non professional assessment is that it was burning at a slow rate of speed above hwy 299 where I was near the old early bird cafe. The situation is likely different on other parts of the fire. Very Smokey today is probably why there was no air support where I could see or hear them. Maybe they were working on a different area of the fire? It is absolutely untrue that the fire has crested Lord Ellis and headed toward blue lake.
Update. My friend who’s property I was at to assist if evacuation became necessary said that the fire above hwy 299 is much more active with the afternoon winds and there is air support working on it now. Stay safe everyone.
Are the Hoopa/Willow fires lightning, arson..or careless behavior?
Not lightning
there is a tradition around the REZ….. too bad. Happy Camp will bill the power company for Slater Fire… it could of been power lines. Pretty windy. Reasonable doubt….
