Ukiah Police: Ignore Donation Letter, It’s a Scam

Facebook post from the Ukiah Police Department:

The Ukiah Police Department has been made aware of another mail scam that is attempting to use local law enforcement as a way to convince community members to make donations.

A copy of the letter is attached below for reference.

The Ukiah Police Department is NOT affiliated in any way with this organization. A quick internet search raises significant concerns about the legitimacy of this solicitation, and we strongly encourage residents to treat it as a scam.

Do not send money, provide personal information, or respond to this solicitation in any form.

Unfortunately, scammers continue to use the names of trusted organizations and public agencies to gain credibility and target unsuspecting victims. These scams can come in many forms, including letters, phone calls, emails, text messages, and social media messages.

If you receive any communication requesting money, donations, banking information, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, or other personal information and you are unsure whether it is legitimate, please contact the Ukiah Police Department. We will gladly help review the information and determine whether it appears to be a scam.

Working together, we can help protect our community from fraud and prevent others from becoming victims.
