Brand New Evacuation Orders and Warnings Issued This Afternoon on the Hill Fire
Additionally, four new areas have received evacuation warnings: Hum E052-A, Hum E062, Hum E063-A, and Hum E063-B. These are in addition to those areas already under evacuation orders and warning.
A public information officer told us that firefighters saw “increased fire activity” about 9 to 10 p.m. last night. Firefighters were able to keep on top of the flames, however, because of the increased activity, the decision was made to add more evacuation orders and warnings.
According to InciWeb’s statement,
Last night activity continued in a southwest area of the fire and crews are currently working on holding lines in the area.
Yesterday afternoon, the fire showed an increase in activity along its south and southeast boundaries in the Mosquito Creek drainage driven by northwesterly winds. Air resources were able to utilize water to help slow the fire growth. Crews continue to construct and improve holding and control lines in this area; however, ground based heavy equipment use was limited due to ongoing fire activity.
Today on the south side of the fire, crews will be building a dozer line towards Mosquito Creek and go direct where possible. On the east side crews will continue doing road improvement on 6N06 road to Ammon Ridge to utilize as a holding line.
The fire continues to be influenced by terrain and increasing winds in the southern area of the fire. On the west the fire will continue to creep and in the interior islands and heavy accumulation of fuels will retain heat and smolder.
An evacuation center has been established at Trinity Valley Elementary School to assist those affected.
For detailed zone information, residents can view the evacuation map on Watch Duty or through the Genasys evacuation map here.

Evacuation map details… well, I recognize Humboldt Bay… and the Pacific Ocean.
Did you click on the map image to go to the actual map? By zooming in and out on that map more information is available.
Ah yes… zoomed in enough… I found a name of a town ! (Tiny Font !)
Note: The HCSO says Hum 3077-B and Hum 3076-A but the map has E’s instead of 3’s. Typos?
I am so sorry. Fixed. My dysgraphia flips things sometimes.
No worries, Kym! I thought it was a difference between the 2 agencies. 🙂
The fire breathing dragon continues to consume land acre after acre. Please folks follow all the evacuation orders. Nothing is worth losing your life over. It also makes it easier for the firefighters knowing that no people are left in the area. Having to check every single house just slows them down.
Thank you for the maps, Kym.
We’re right next to the fire and we appreciate the “official” information almost as much as the “real” information we get from our friends and neighbors in the commentariat.
Ha!
