The crash was reported at approximately 10:26 a.m. CAD logs indicate the tanker rolled onto its side while the truck became high-centered in a ditch. Both vehicles required tow trucks. An ambulance was dispatched; dispatch logs indicate at least one party declined medical treatment.
The tanker’s cargo was confirmed non-hazardous by responding units.
Both northbound and southbound lanes were blocked. Caltrans issued a traffic alert indicating the highway is fully closed west of Gasquet near Hardscabble Creek. QuickMap lists the closure as running from the USFS Middle Fork Gorge River Access to the Hardscrabble Creek Bridge, with an estimated reopening of 3 p.m. Motorists can monitor current conditions at QuickMap or download the QuickMap app.
