Marci Kitchen: Parole ‘Imminent’ Says Humboldt County and CDCR

Marci Kitchen Sept 3, 2018 booking photo.jpg

Marci Kitchen’s Sept 3, 2018 booking photo.

In September of 2018, a judge sentenced Marci Kitchen to eight years in prison for the hit and run deaths of two 14-year-old girls–her daughter, Kiya, and Faith Tsarnas–while Kitchen was driving intoxicated. Today, according to Ms. Kitchen’s ex-husband, less than two years later, she may be paroled. And if she isn’t released today, she will be very soon, according to both Humboldt County and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

According to Stacey Eads, Assistant District Attorney for Humboldt County, she can’t confirm the exact date Marci Kitchen will be released on parole.  “Although I cannot confirm that she will be paroled tomorrow, I can share I was advised on July 20 by the Eureka Parole Unit that Ms. Kitchen was to be part of Governor Newsom’s ‘imminent release plan,’ she told us in an email yesterday. “In response to receiving that information…the DA Victim Witness Unit began working with the Eureka Parole Unit in reaching out to the families of the victims in order to alert them of her imminent release and advise of options the families could explore, such as requesting she not be paroled to specific counties, including Humboldt.”

A spokesperson for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Luis Patino, told us, “CDCR does not release the exact date, location, or time of a release for safety and security purposes.” However, he did confirm that she will be released to state parole this month as part of the early release actions designed to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus in the prison system.

Joe Kitchen, the father of Kiya, told us in a message that Marci would be sent to county for quarantine for 14 days then she would be released in Humboldt County though still required to report to a parole officer.

Worse than disgusting! WAY! WAY ! WORSE! She will be released from a shorter sentence than the number of years each of those girls had to live before she killed them ! HOW IS THAT JUSTICE IN A CASE OF TAKING THE LIFE OF TWO BEAUTIFUL PRECIOUS YOUNG KIDS? ? ? ?

How is it any kind of justice that after only two years she gets out to drink and drive and in danger more innocent lives? ?

It isn’t at all got anything to do with color race or creed, it’s the bullshit covid -19, when they release her they should make her feel the pain she has caused to the community someway or another.
I just guessing she might have to watch her back, because this area has some pretty messed up people that handle justice out there, their own way , that’s just my opinion.

Im white I don’t ever get privilege at all but it does exist but there is a connection or something when people like newsom do this it’s privilege to people he is involved with even if it’s like a distant family member of say a contributor of newsom someone who lines his pockets so is there white privilege yes and no because blacks, asian, Mexican people can and do get these same privileges you say is white no no my friend it’s called green privilege if your part of the 1% you get special privileges another fact slavery was never abolished it was extended to all but the 1% they changed it and made corporations that give these things called jobs the people get these jobs and work these jobs that is probably not what they wanted in life and hate it these places pay you a minimum wage to make you feel like it’s not a sweat shop slave factory this small wage you make barely gets you by after you have to pay your bills which your rent, electric, groceries for the month your paying these places which are mostly owned by your government what whatever is left has to last you hmm I’d call that slavery , I have not worked for anyone in over 16 years I feel great I’m happy I now own multiple businesses that do well that’s because they know they have to give us a choice they won’t tell you but everyone has a choice freedom isn’t free.

That’s super messed up! I can understand letting go some non violent offenders with short sentences.. but this is just crazy town. Her actions and crime are horrendous! She should have to take her chances with Covid in prison like anyone else. How is releasing her going to do any good? Lame!

It’s not this woman killed 2 children tried to get her son to say he did it and she as drunk when she mowed them down yet she stayed free til the end and was also put in a not real prison and only got 8 years for murdering the lives of 2 children who had a future. She was treated with white gloves from the start and now not even 2 years later is being released to do it again in a county where she is supposed to be not able to live WTF is wrong with this county and the whole thing was injustice from the very beginning. Anyone else would have been given 16 yrs for killing 1 person and she did 2 including her own and that just goes to show you how messed up our county is and how they cater to some. Not right. I know many people who are in prison for much less offenses and they are not being released. Where is the Justice for the 2 stolen lives?

‘Max Balm…..’, I’m presuming it’s you from SoHum. You are living in a strange uneducated place in your mind. Hello, the reality is this covid thing is real with excessive amounts of deaths and sickness to the weak and the healthy. Time to cut out the Fox news, the Trumper mentality. Do it for you, your family, and everyone else you encounter… 👎. Your parents would not survive the sickness, if you think they would, I know ICU nurses and ER nurses that would beg to differ. Mask up around your folks and wash your hands you could literally kill your parents bringing the covid to them…. And for anybody else reading this message, look up on the internet people who survived the covid telling their true stories… Do it it’s eye opening…

It’s worth noting that 80% of Covid deaths are with seniors over 65. Also, surviving Covid isn’t always awesome, as there are long term major complications for some people. How healthy you are has a lot to do with it. The chances of surviving this as an unhealthy senior are not good. That said, their chances aren’t good anyway..

I cannot believe this! She gets drunk, drives, runs over her own child and her child’s friend, leaves the scene, has her son disguise the damage to her vehicle and then hides from law enforcement. Now, barely two years after the incident, she is handed a “get out of jail free” card?

Well, with the shape our world is in these days, I guess anything is possible.

Accurate synopsis of events. Don’t forget [edit]her boyfriend- the son of a famous weed lawyer. While this weed lawyer made continual delays in her trial and pulled strings. She also put her son in the position of lying for her- telling him to lie in court about what happened when she ran over and abandoned his own sister to die in the street…She is a psychopath and she will make more bad things happen. She is incapable of showing regret because she is a psychopath. Yet she will be released among us….who will be her next victim? I guess we will have to wait and see!

Hmm…Kym edited out part of my comment. I’m not sure why. I referred to her international party travels as her lawyer delayed the case repeatedly. Yes- she went abroad and partied on. After killing her daughter and another young girl. (And fleeing the scene, hiding the car and making her son lie for her). I think it is an important part of understanding who she really is…Maybe I used the wrong words, Kym?

Speaking of that did you hear of the very recent rip off of a legal farm up salmon creek area that the cops were called in on? The “suspect” may or may not make this news section allot. The “suspect” name may or may not rhyme with Jade Jarris. He or she may or may not of been released from some serious charges recently because of covid. Definantly worth looking I’m to.

Well…the modern psychologically correct diagnosis is Anti Social Personality Disorder (ASPD). ASPD covers what used to be called psychopathy and sociopathy. There is no treatment- please don’t think you can heal them.

She will be among the least dangerous released. Our only benefit for living in a remote area of California is prisoners have to be released in the area of their crime. Many of the serious criminals will be released in the LA area and the Bay area. And supposedly no parolee can leave that area unless they are given permission by the parole agent. I’m sure that will be violated.

She is not even on a level of people in Southern California. There are people who killed their entire family and the family dog. And with a semi automatic hand gun. And some stories are even worse. Kitchen on a scale from one to ten is a four. Entire family and a dog is an eight. And there are worse in levels eight to ten. Like Charlie Manson. 1740 Californians were murdered with a weapon in 2019. Fifty-six percent lived in the greater LA area. Kitchen committed a terrible thing while she was drunk. But she didn’t go out that night with the intent with running over her daughter and the other girl. The worst are intent to take a life and plan how to do it, then murder the person(s).

There is enough hate in this county to make Kitchen’s life worse than prison.

Saying that was not a personal criticism. It was a critcism of the government that makes those sort of rules. There’s plenty beside that to lay at Kitchen’s door personally. Her behavior was a series of failures- she got drunk, she drove, she hit two children, she ran away, she lied about it and tried to get others to lie, she obfuscated her crimes and caused much public misery and expense to do so. And there is zero evidence she will do any better upon release.

Marci, is that you?

First of all, you give statistics without providing a source. Second, you give misleading statistics by not providing basic information necessary to make any inferences.

The first issue is self-explanatory. As for the second, you don’t state what you consider the “greater LA area” and provide some per capita reference. Los Angeles county contains 1/4 of the states population, but if you include Ventura, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties they account for nearly 50% of the states population (census.gov). You also do not state how many specific incidents account for the “1740 Californians” murdered.

Lastly, LA and other urban areas of CA do not hold a monopoly on abhorrent crime; however, it doesn’t really matter if there are worse crimes out there, two years is a totally inadequate sentence for this particular crime and attempted cover-up!

For one thing the “other girl” had a name its Faith! She is greatly missed!! And to think that Bitch can take 2 innocent lives the way she did. Then try to hide the fact. Go on vacation after wards. Fight her ex over the remains of their daughter. Put so many family and friends through hell trying to get justice. She is sentenced to a mere 8 years gets early release because of covid19. Living 3 miles away from Faiths mother step father and siblings right now until she is returned here real soon. So family can accidently run into her at a store or any where and have that anxiety. Is beyond fucked up. California’s Governor has fucked up. Releasing due to covid19. Kim we spoke on the phone the other night regarding this and i do thank you for handling this story the way you have..thank you you know what and why i say this.

I always figured that was a hypothetically very real possibility.
It would explain so much.
The unanswered hypothetical question would be, why?
No telling now… , would be the hypothetical answer.

I would hypothetically give her a nine or ten for it being a possible Cold Blooded hit and run with intent if that was the case.
If I’m not mistaken, she didn’t even report it or otherwise render aid.
More than just a coincidence.

I remember when this first happenned, in one of the articles written by one of the newspapers, the man with Marci said that upon seeing Kiya and Faith walking down the road, she made some derogatory comment about them, as they were wearing bathing suits. I can’t remember what the exact quote was, but it was along the lines of , ‘Omg, look at those sluts!’ Really, I almost threw up when I read it, and I’ve always believed there was intent, she is a sick, sociopathic, demented human being! Why was that not brought up in the Courtroom, why did his statement just disappear, and why was he not put on the stand, he was with her in the vehicle when she ran those poor girls over!? This whole case ripped my heart wide open, my Daughter knew Faith and said she was the sweetest Soul ever! Rest in Eternal Peace, Kiya & Faith, I’m so sorry your lives were cut short, you are forever Loved and Missed.. 🙏♥️😢

Maybe Louie Gohmert, if he gets over the covid, would make a great governor, or, the other Hunter, Duncan Hunter, as soon as he gets out of prison for campaign fraud – if he isn’t out already due to Newsome’s terrible covid/ prison release program. They are all garbage (Republican or Democrat), but the problem is that rural California counties don’t elect statewide leaders due to population distribution. So, either get used to it, or leave, because you can’t beat the super-majority of the progressives from Marin to LA county plus Sacramento. So, you are stuck with liberal policies from the left without any balancing from the right driving a more centrist policy.

It’s the same in Oregon. Over 2/3rds of the state is in one Congressional District. There are 4 in the other third. Thing is, that is land, not people.

In the huge district is one huge county, the biggest in Oregon, 10th largest in the country, Harney, made famous by the Bundy idiots. There are around 7500 people in just over 10,000 square miles (makes Trinity County look “full” 🙂 ). The smallest county in Oregon is 466 square miles, with over 800,000 people in it. While being the smallest county in size, it is the largest in population.

The majority rules. It’s like that in every state. There can’t be a “balance”, because there is no legitimate balance to be had.

Full disclosure, I don’t live in either county. I live in a smallish county of 50K hours away from the PDX metro area.

If reporters report exactly what trump is saying and doing, same with anyone, then it is not propaganda. Yes, Trump displays his idiocy almost hourly now. Republicans jumpin’-up-and-down can’t change Trump’s incompetence. If Biden mis-pronounces “Thailand”, you can report it. BFD.

Guest

If they only reported precisely. But what they report is taken out of contest and deliberately misconstrued to make fit their beliefs. Sort of like that whole comment. It is the glee with which they- and apparently you- make mountains out of molehills when it comes to personal enmity but are totally silent when it’s convenient if it is a failure of the supported. So he mispronounced “Thailand” as if no one else had ever misspoke in a speech before. Sheesh- if Trump’s haters were not so irrational, such low levels of debate would not happen as this.

It is like Kym contradicting a complaint of the press allowing Obama to go uncriticized while obsessing over any misstep of Trump. She linked to an article where the press criticized the color of his suit as proof. Sort of an opposite of damning by faint praise to hold that up as press criticism when things like his repeared “legislation by executive order” or outright untruths like “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” are studiously avoided. Oh yeah- like the press viciously attacks Obama because of his suit color. GMAB

So you think an example of Fox pundits being as petty and biased about Obama as the press in general is about Trump doesn’t prove my point about the hatefulness? And it’s contribution to the acidity of American self mutilation? Really?

This comment is not “twisting” anything but dereliction of duty in the press towards facing a mirror. Fox has a bad reputation not because it is conservative but because it slants everything to an agenda. Why hold to the idea that two bad examples make one right just because they get it wrong in opposite directions?

I complain about the press twisting to suit and you respond that I twist things. And then proceed to affirm my complaint with further emotion. You have a perfect right to feel what you want about Trump. Trump is unlikable. Obama was much easier in that regard. It however is not the point. The issue is whether liking or disliking results in skewed understanding and actions. In other words reporting ( or in LCO’s remarks) the irrationality of excessive reliance on emotions creates foolish, deliberate distortions yet they are still believed to be proofs. So what if Trump mispronounced Thailand. It is a common, almost everyone has done it mistake that certainly does not prove what LCO thinks it does and it becomes the stupidest of issues to talk about. So what if Trump talked trash decades before he was elected. It’s not Trump’s vulgarity that makes him the target of the press’s abuse. A grown up reporter has certainly heard worse and seen worse put into action by numerous politicians. It’s focussing constantly on trivial things that end up creating hysteria over nothing from face masks and the flu equivalence to international relations- in fact such hysteria has become a joke called Trump Derangement Syndrome marked by its very emotionalism.

What as a professional you do not have the right to do is expect to your feelings to control what you report and expect no one should be allowed to remark on it. Obama’s use of EO rather than political accommodation was worse by far than Trump’s crude comments. More insidious and damaging than any ridiculous rant of Trump and meaner by far in his contempt of others’ ability to understand him. (BTW the link you provided is no available for me to read.) Both are highly insecure, defensive people but the press still acts on its internal emotions that criticising Obama makes them look bad no matter how merited while there is no inherited low they can stoop to in insulting Trump that will do the same. “Elitism” my foot. That is just more of same praising with faint criticism.

As long as the discussion revolves around pussies and emotions, nothing of substance can be changed. That is my criticism of the press- who ought to be able to articulate government “wrongness” yet can’t rise above pussy-grabbing. Not liberal or conservative. Any consideration of conservative public opinion would find opinion about Trump is not good there either. If Trump’s unprofessional as President, the expressed contempt of the press for non far left opinion is equally unprofessional. I could stand for both to improve. You may consider any deviation from superficial Trump bashing as”twisting” but I consider the press’s being unable to rise above it as twisted from the start. Let me know when you want to discuss government or politics or even Trump without getting hung up on pussies. Until then it’s all twisted. And why enough people voted for Trump to get him elected in the first place. And why some will stick with him now and others can’t nominate a better Democrat ticket than Harris for eventual President.

There’s a reason why Jefferson, if forced to choose between government or a free-press would have chosen the free press. Kym or anyone else in the media must report the news good or bad so we know what’s right and what is wrong and must change. She is not enabling. You can’t improve society if you don’t know what is wrong. Sweeping problems under the rug IS enabling.

Ok, get an f’in grip! Try living in a state with an ultra-conservative super-majority and see how fucked up that can be. It’s not one OR the other that is the issue (they’re both equally screwing society), it is the lack of balance and collaborative effort for the benefit of the populous.

Meaning what? You’re comparing DUI killing of two girls with a pandemic? You’re saying that Marci has killed half as many people (50%) in this country as Covid-19? That is multiple thousands, almost one a minute. One busy gal. Might get parole revoked. No wonder the country is going to hell. Ah dreamed ah was there, in hillbilly hell. Now there’s a song! The interesting part for me is that she wasn’t worthy of the party’s nomination for president, but she’s worthy for VP behind Biden, and Bidens mind has Zero chance of lasting 4 years. So essentially she’ll be president by proxy. Even though she’s not worthy of being president. I get lost in the circular logic.

Shall we discuss Stormy Daniels or how about how Trump cheated on his first wife with his second wife and cheated on his second wife with his third wife that he met thru pedo pal Jeffrey Epstein and then had to pay off women that he fucked while married to Melania while running for president. Or how about we discuss his sexual obsession with his daughter?

it’s not. the problem is that if our institutions of justice fail then people will end up taking matters of justice into their own hands. that is why we agree to have this handled by our justices system and why such failures are inexcusable. Marci Kitchen earned a long sentence for her crimes but not the death penalty – left out on the street and subject to the independent judiciary she may not be so lucky. As satisfying as it may be to see, ultimately that is bad for all of us.

She killed two kids going down the street while driving drunk, one was HER own, then ran and tried to cover up the situation. She was out free from jail for ages and taking international vacations. No remorse. Her own teenage son had to rat on her (good kid).

A real piece of work. We gain nothing by letting her walk. I don’t care one bit if she gets sick and dies in jail.

Encouraging would be if they incentivized her to do it again, which they’ve not done.

While I abhor what she’s done, ignoring the hard time she’s already done, as well as the likely mental anguish (one can hope) isn’t helping anybody.

Ms Kitchen has done very little hard time, and only spent 2-3 months in Prison before being transferred to a Sunny San Diego work-release facility, where she’s been ever since.
Her current location is “Custody to Community Transitional Reentry Program San Diego”.
A quick Google search lists several stories about inmates who walked away from this delightful facility after removing their ankle bracelets, and not showing up for their job in a local restaurant.

I think it’s important to forgive people who make terrible mistakes. I’m sure she feels worse than anyone about this. Forgiveness is hard but it’s what a certain radical guy named Jesus who lived many years ago would have counciled this angry mob of righteous commenters.

The Bible is about atoning or at least being somewhat remorseful for your sins. Forgiveness isnt given unless you at least ask for it. Somehow I doubt Jesus would be on Marci’s side given all her actions afterwards. By that logic once Jeffery dahmer was in jail he was an ok dude because he wasn’t eating people anymore, not that he wasnt sorry for what he had done.

Jesus’ teachings and the Bible are two different things. Jesus was just a guy who preached forgiveness and love for your neighbors no matter how low they have sunk, or if they have hurt you. I think his words bring out the best in people; which is something many commenters here could use.

loved-child
Guest

I would guess the point is that each person will face God alone and if they have not repented and asked His forgiveness then they will spend eternity in a place where God’s love and forgiveness won’t be. We cannot be more concerned with what one person does with God than what WE do with God. In addition to my repenting and asking for forgiveness from God and others who I have wronged, the good book and Jesus, both tell me that I MUST forgive others their wrong doing. It doesn’t mean I forget about it, or that I let them back into my life, but it means I RELEASE them from owing me something they can not repay. I release them into their own relationship with God to repent and find peace (hopefully). I release myself from holding a grudge of hate that in reality only holds me in a prison of my own making. If anyone wants to understand what Jesus says about forgiveness in order to free themselves then read the gospel story of the servant who was forgiven of much, but wouldn’t forgive others what they owed to him. Someone also rightly said, forgive others as fast as you hope God will forgive you, and if we don’t think we have anything much to be forgiven of, just remember how many times we’ve taken Jesus’ death for our sins and unbelief for granted.

Seems to be a common trope/meme (you pick) in some defenders of Kitchen that somehow, some way, being drunk when you kill or maim people is exculpatory. Like, wow, you know, s/he wasn’t “looking for trouble”. See, if you’re sober when you drive over skateboarding children, that means you’re super-mean.
