The #McFarlandFire is currently mapped at 32,940 acres with 33% containment. Firefighters have worked relentlessly both day & night to suppress this fire.
Crews were able to backburn today on the eastern portion of the blaze with support from helicopters. Air tankers were also used on the west & east sides of the fire to reinforce lines on the ground.
Containment lines along Highway 36 have been holding & crews are continuing to mop up & secure it.
The southwest portion of the fire is also improving & saw little fire activity today.
Firefighters will continue to utilize both direct & indirect tactics for the night shift where opportunity presents.

I was told tonight on the monument fire they short changed everyone on the road.block. would not let people in at Hawkins bar. And was also told by crews that fire fighters were all on the road not doing a thing. Choppers were on the ground. And no planes up. Also not one sign off cats working the ground.. this is bullshit. I was going to go get my 5th wheel tomorrow now I can’t. The line was burnt ranch today. We need faster news on what is going on.
Do not rely on 3rd hand info. The announced closure of 299 was at Berg Rd. Go there now and get your 5th wheeler! When there in person with your actual plan of rescue then you can explain your case. Do not rely on 3rd hand info!
Who are the agency’s in charge of the monument and McFarland fires respectively?
US Forest Service.
The fires are both on US Forest Service land like Kym said, however they are being run by Incident Management Teams (IMT) that are made up of firefighters from federal, state, and local government and municipal fire departments from across western US. I guarantee you they are out there in the woods working to contain these fires, even if some firefighters can be seen on the road. Aircraft was likely grounded due to weather, like too much smoke to fly.
run by emperor palpatine?
🙂
We are going to all become volunteer firefighters soon. Decades of “being cool” hurting the area most indubededly///
Meanwhile responsible timber folks getting torched in red tape and bs. Clowns to the left jokers to the right. Here I am stuck in the middle with you…
