Screenshot of PG&E Outage mapA late-night power outage left hundreds of customers without electricity in Southern Humboldt on Thursday night, with restoration not expected until Friday morning.

According to PG&E, the outage was reported at 10:42 p.m. Thursday, June 25, affecting 557 customers. As of 11:45 p.m., power remained out. Crews have identified the cause–a tree made contact with the power line.

PG&E estimates electricity will be restored by 7:15 a.m. Friday, June 26, though restoration times are subject to change as crews assess damage and complete repairs.

The utility said the outage was unplanned and that crews are evaluating the electrical system “to identify damaged sections and make necessary repairs in order to safely turn the power back on.”

Residents are encouraged to use flashlights instead of candles during outages, avoid downed power lines, and check on neighbors who may need assistance.
