Gunshot Victim on Bald Hills Road Succumbed to His Wound, Says HCSO

On June 23, 2021, at about 6 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Elk Camp CAL FIRE Station on Bald Hills Road near Orick for the report of a gunshot victim.
According to CAL FIRE employees, a male gunshot victim was brought to the station in a vehicle occupied by multiple unknown individuals. The victim was dropped off at the station and the vehicle left.
Despite life-saving efforts administered by CAL FIRE employees, the victim succumbed to his injuries on scene.
This case is being investigated as a homicide by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.
This is an ongoing investigation. Information will be released as available and appropriate.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank CAL FIRE and California State Parks for their assistance with this investigation.

Very sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. What is truly sickening is that John Chiv has already released the name of the alleged victim. In his race to scoop everyone else he could be posting erroneous information and before all family and kin have been notified. Chiv needs to have serious repercussions leveled on him.
Very irresponsible and unprofessional of John Chiv to be releasing a name prematurely.
That information is incorrect anyhow. That john chiv guys a moron posting false information based on hearsay.
He’s done it before, falsely claimed one well-respected Eureka woman killed her son because she had a similar name to the perpetrator. That’s when a certain Facebook group stopped allowing links to his posts.
He’s not a journalist, he’s a gossip blogger, and he’s not even good at that.
John chiv is a real moron. Posting false information that some poor guy in orick named Terry cook has been killed, which is not confirmed nor true. He is just posting gossip that could be extremly harmfull to this guy or his family. John chiv is an irresponsible moron. Have some patience fkn vulture.
It’s damned well disgusting that someone would just throw another human out of the car like piece of trash, & then run the F the other way as fast as possible to avoid any guilt, or punishment for their actions!!!!!

They only dropped him off because he was a friend.
If they would have shot him he’d be in a hole or thrown over a bluff Never to be seen again
