[Update: Evac Warnings Lifted] Trinity County Fire Prompts Evacuation Warnings Near SR-299

A vegetation and structure fire reported Monday morning near State Route 299 and Bartlett Lane in Trinity County has prompted evacuation warnings for three zones in the Weaverville area.

The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuation warnings for zones WVR-212, WVR-221, and WVR-222 at 10:04 a.m. June 22, according to ReadyTrinity.org.

The first report came in at 9:29 a.m. when a caller reported seeing smoke in the foothills. CAD logs placed the fire in the foothills near WVLA along SR-299 at Bartlett Lane.

An evacuation warning means there is a potential threat to life and property in the area. Residents are not required to leave immediately but should be prepared to do so if conditions change. People who need extra time to get out, and those with pets or livestock, are urged to leave now.

The first unit on scene reported that the fire was burning at a moderate rate of spread and was approximately one acre in size.

Update 10:50 a.m.: The Weaverville Fire Department reports forward progress on the Spring Incident has been stopped, with a hose line established around the perimeter. The fire burned approximately 2 acres. The cause remains under investigation.

Update 11 a.m.: The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office has lifted the evacuation warnings for zones WVR-212, WVR-221, and WVR-222, according to ReadyTrinity.org. Residents returning to the area are asked to use caution, as emergency crews and equipment remain on scene.
