Young Arcata Brothers Take Hip-Hop from the Radio to the Stage

Two Arcata brothers who host a local radio show are gearing up for a bigger stage this summer.
42 Buck$ and DJ Hawk performed original hip-hop songs for students at Union Street Charter School on at the beginning of June. The brothers host the HuroStreet Radio Show on KHHA-LP 94.7 FM, Arcata’s community radio station.

Now the duo is looking ahead to a bigger event. 42 Buck$ is set to release a new album called “The 5th Story,” with a release party planned for Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Arcata Playhouse, according to a flyer and tip submitted to the Redheaded Blackbelt.
The brothers have spent recent months writing songs and performing around Humboldt County, building a following through their radio show and live appearances at schools and community events. Organizers are billing the Aug. 22 release party as a chance to support local hip-hop and encourage young people to get involved in music.
Ticket information and further details on the release party are expected to be announced closer to the date.
