Crews are responding to a remote vegetation fire burning on the east side of the South Fork of the Trinity River Thursday evening, with smokejumpers and a Cal Fire helicopter already at the scene.

The building was fully engulfed.

The #LambFire is located on private land adjacent to the Six Rivers National Forest in Trinity County approximately three miles up Route 1 from Highway 36.

The prescribed burn will take place as conditions allow on Thursday, October 9th

Firefighters from Cal Fire were dispatched to the scene and requested the closure of the entire area around the highway due to active fire operations.

CAL FIRE aircraft joined Six Rivers National Forest and volunteer ground resources after a vegetation fire was reported around 4 p.m. off Highway 36; a smoke column is visible from the Bald Jesse 1 Alert California camera.

Air and ground resources rushed in after the blaze was first reported Thursday afternoon.
