[UPDATE 2:23 p.m.] New Wildfire Reported Near Buckhorn Summit North of Highway 299

According to radio traffic, Humboldt County’s CAL FIRE helicopter C604 lifted off to assist with the response. An air attack aircraft and Tanker 94 were also dispatched also. An initial report from Air Attack estimated the fire at approximately one-half acre burning in timber understory with a slow rate of spread.
Live camera imagery from ALERTCalifornia’s McCabe Ridge 2 camera appeared to show the smoke column increasing in size shortly after the initial dispatch.
No evacuations, road closures, or threats to structures had been reported as of publication.

UPDATE 2:23 p.m.: According to the incident commander, they can handle the incident with resources already on scene. Remaining incoming resources have been canceled except a water tender have been canceled.
