[Update] Structure Fire East of Garberville Tonight

A structure fire was reported around 11:28 p.m. near Alderpoint Road in the Upper Sawmill area on Tooby Ranch Road outside of Garberville, according to scanner traffic monitored during the incident.

Initial reports said a neighbor’s house was on fire, however, later the Incident Commander on scene said this was an outbuilding. The reporting person said that didn’t know if anyone was home at the time. Fire crews from Garberville and Redway were dispatched to the scene.

They arrived to find the building was engulfed in flames. However, shortly afterward, scanner traffic reported that the “fire [was] knocked down.” The Incident Commander estimated that it would take two hours to finish dealing with the fire.

Update 12:07 a.m.: According to the incident commander, the address has been updated to an area on Little Buck Mountain Road off of Alderpoint Road. The IC told dispatch that an outbuilding was completely destroyed, but the fire was out. Overhaul is expected to take two hours to complete.
