Wallace Stephen MacMillan passed away peacefully at home in Calistoga on December 24, 2025, after a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. A graduate of Saint Bernard’s, Eureka High, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, he built a career in architecture while nurturing deep friendships, creative passions, and a love of travel.

Kathleen “Kay” Anne (Renner) Swithenbank, a Fortuna native and longtime Bank of America assistant manager and loan officer, died peacefully at her Pleasanton home on December 5, surrounded by family.

“Ina worked at Green’s Pharmacy in Garberville and then for over 20 years Henderson Center Pharmacy, specializing in the make-up counter, serving her customers with knowledge and grace.”

Cathie Gillen, who made her home in Humboldt County after arriving in the 1970s, is remembered by loved ones for her generosity, intellect, and unwavering commitment to compassion, community, and justice, according to her family.

“Olga began teaching Home Economics and a few Art classes. She eventually became Head of the Art department. Her distinctive Volvo sports car, stylish fashion sense and unique hairstyle (The Bun) made her stand out.”

“He was a restless, reckless soul and spent several years incarcerated. Despite his tough exterior, he quickly earned the nickname Bear because he had a generous heart and could never say no to someone in need.”

“He was a devoted husband, father, and son, who faced many struggles, including challenges related to substance use. Despite these hardships, those who knew him will remember the joy he brought into their lives.”

Isaac James Kibby, beloved by his family and community for his humor, kindness, and deep cultural roots, passed away on November 30, 2025.
