From Four to One: KEET PBS Reshapes Broadcast Lineup to Secure Its Future

Press release from KEET PBS:

KEET PBS, the PBS station serving California’s Redwood Coast, announced [yesterday] that it will consolidate its broadcast operations to a single channel beginning October 1, 2025. The move comes in response to unprecedented federal funding cuts and urgent equipment needs, as KEET works to preserve its most essential services for the community.

Over the summer, KEET experienced a series of technical difficulties—including an extended broadcast outage and ongoing disruptions to its PBS KIDS channel—due to failures in aging transmission equipment and critical servers. While immediate repairs have restored the main signal, station leadership determined that a more sustainable, long-term solution was needed.

“As a small station with limited resources, we face a stark reality,” says David Gordon, executive director of KEET. “With the loss of 50% of our federal grant funding and escalating costs to maintain and replace technical infrastructure, we had to make difficult choices to safeguard our mission.”

Beginning October 1, KEET will broadcast exclusively on KEET HD (Channel 13.1). The additional channels—PBS KIDS, Create, FNX, and WORLD—will no longer be available. This decision follows months of careful review by KEET’s board and management, with the goal of preserving uninterrupted access to PBS’s trusted news, educational programming, and cultural content.

The transition includes the installation of a new automated master control system, designed to enhance reliability and streamline operations. Viewers may notice some temporary disruptions during this upgrade, but KEET engineers are committed to minimizing impact and keeping the public informed.

“These changes, while difficult, ensure that KEET can remain a vital part of the Redwood Coast’s media landscape,” says Gordon. “We remain dedicated to providing high-quality programming, lifelong learning resources, and public service to all our viewers.”

How will the liberals groom and indoctrinate children without their KIDS channel?

Note, the above is satire. Everyone knows their grooming efforts are diverse and widespread. This will help, but until their systemic control of education is broken they will continue to rot young minds. We see you terrorist Bill Ayers and we see those who are like you.

https://www.cfr.org/timeline/far-right-terrorism-united-states. Read this and then get back to me. You need to turn off faux news and get grip on reality. The orange senile shit stain in the whithouse has poisoned your mind.

Read your link. Have to write, you’re wrong. The article references the KKK quite a bit. People from the deep south after the civil war were Democrats, not Republicans. The KKK was everywhere in the south, all Democrats. Remember, it was Lincoln, a Republican, that freed the slaves. Quite a few Republicans were hung during the years after the civil war. Watch the movie “Mississippi Burning”. You’ll get the idea. As for “The orange senile shit stain in the whithouse” I have to agree with the orange part.

Over the last century-and-a-half, both parties have pretty much reversed their positions.

As for the name-calling, I’m sure the president has the leak-proof Depends.

The Democratic and Republican parties of the 19th century are not the same as their modern versions.

Lincoln’s Republican Party was the party of abolition and national unity, while Democrats (especially Southern Democrats) defended slavery and later segregation.

Dixiecrats were mid-20th-century Southern Democrats who broke away to defend segregation, long after Lincoln’s time. They broke away specifically because they were conservative and in favor of slavery.

Over the course of the 20th century, the parties’ coalitions and regional bases essentially flipped.

So what? The democrats of today are as different from then as are the republicans from then. Your argument is irrelevant. Parties change, people change, issues change. It’s not about “parties”, its about intent.

Get a grip. The Wiggles brain washing kids into the Gay Lifestyle. Look back 50+ years to Anita Bryant and Bill Ayers. To make America great you’ve gone back way past McCarthy back to Mussolini. 50% of the US population are not the ‘enemy ‘ Find a Therapist, not The Rapist.

My goodness, have you ever watched PBS Kids? The programming has nothing to do with politics from the left nor the right. My own children have learned, along with books, about the natural world, math and science, music, cooking projects, cooperation with others, and art through PBS Kids. Programs are shown without commercials that might display content that isn’t necessary for the young mind. It allows kids to simply enjoy their childhood. What is so wrong with that? It is disturbing that the only t.v. programming that is worthwhile for kids is now gone.

It’s only the channel that’s gone. As David points out, children’s programming on the main KEET channel will continue. When you lose 50% of your funding, something has to give. KEET is doing its best to continue to provide something for everyone.

I think you’ve mistaken the word groom for read and indoctrinate for write. The oligarchs used to need some illiterate peasants to do their work but now will replace you with AI. Critical thinking skills are the enemy of both political parties, and in short supply, as is so clear when reading so many comments on this blog.

I might mourn the loss except Keet became lost already when they changed to digital a few years ago.
