Most sites with that “Disable my adblocker” nonsense also have a “Read without disabling” button.
I hope LCO sees this post and reconsiders. Until then I protest.
Ads are how they put out the news. I’ve got donations but as far as I know they do it all with ads. I have my ad blocker disabled on all sites that I use regularly including LoCO. It’s one way to help make sure that the next time I need their news, they are still there.
I like to choose who plays in my sandbox. I trust ads posted in your sandbox. I don’t trust ads from unknown sources.
To further clarify, LCO probably doesn’t know what ads will be seen or where they come from. They get a small sum for pushing the ads to users of their website. And an additional sum if a user clicks on an ad. And another sum if the user makes a purchase.
I understand. Because of how bad finances are, I’m exploring doing that myself.
With all the traffic on your website you should do quite well! Websites with half a million visitors per month make around $1000/month or more depending on type of ads.
I found it to be ridiculous that a comment I made a few years back – with factual receipts to back it up no less (!) – was deleted because it didn’t fit their approved narrative.
