‘No Kings’ Protest Set for Humboldt County Courthouse This Sunday
A “No Kings” protest is scheduled for this Sunday, June 14, at the Humboldt County Courthouse in Eureka, running from noon to 2 p.m.
The event is part of a nationwide wave of demonstrations organized for June 14, a date that falls on President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and Flag Day. Organizers say events are planned at more than 1,800 locations across the country.
The centerpiece of Sunday’s national action is a 90-minute “Rise Up, Sing Out” concert at The Town Hall in New York City, featuring Bette Midler, Patti Smith, Jane Fonda, and Joy Reid, which will stream nationwide as local groups host watch parties.
The local event is being organized by Humboldt Democracy Connections (HumDem), which will hold a rally and sidewalk march before joining the 50501 courthouse protest. The event will include speakers, music, and performances and is described as non-violent.
Humboldt County has seen strong turnout at previous No Kings events. Thousands turned out for the third No Kings rally at the Humboldt County Courthouse in late March. That crowd wrapped around the courthouse and stretched along both sides of Fifth Street for several city blocks.
The No Kings movement has been among the largest protest movements in recent U.S. history, drawing an estimated five million people at the first rallies in June 2025, nearly seven million in October 2025, and roughly eight million participants across 3,300 sites in March 2026.
Organizers frame the demonstrations as a defense of democratic norms and a pushback against what they describe as “strongman politics and corruption,” set against the backdrop of America’s approaching 250th anniversary of independence.

No worries – all you Democrat Progressive Socialists can blame the County Budget Woes on Trump at the No More Kings Protest!
Oh! I thought they were going to blame the California economy on Trump…you know his REPs have been in control of CA for a decade now- oh wait…nevermind
I blame the dope growers that didn’t pay taxes and screwed us over with their crimes against humanity and nature for over 45 years.
The only description of why it is says pusback against “strongman politics and corruption.” So is this a demonstration against Califraudnia one party rule that is rampant with waste and corruption?
It’s an opportunity for Humboldt County Progressives to blame the County Budget Woes on Trump.
Gives the usual suspects an opportunity to socialize and reinforce their shared delusions. Oh, and give EPD and the CHP lots of overtime…
Maybe if Trump got a Nazi Tattoo on his chest they would like him better – like the guy in Maine?
Personally, I blame the dope growers who screwed us over with their libertarian criminal enterprises.
The usual suspects showing up for the latest in protest causes. Useless and tedious.
Glad to see I got to you. My singing is working!
Every comment I just read here at 1:00pm makes it clear that not one of the commenters respect the votes of their fellow citizens. I find it both amusing and tragic
The official platform of the right is to deny democracy. A new class of politicians called Election Deniers have been put up for office all over the country. It does not seem to be working so far, but the idea is even more of a litmus test for the far right today than single-payer health is for the far left.
You know how you can tell? Ask ’em who won the 2020 presidential election. They don’t want democracy. They want a King.
You all just love hearing yourselves talk about Trump and election deniers of which you all are. Have fun at the your no Kings day bruhaha. Such a waste of time, accomplishes nothing!
Oh, I dunno. It accomplishes face-to-face personal interaction, sort of like hunting with buddies or going out on the course. And we get to see who shows up and learn who we can rely on to support the right to vote. Nobody gets drunk or brings home a buck or whatever else the right does when it talks politics.
Cool story, bro! I’ll be cutting back my neighbor’s lawn and bushes. She’s in her 80’s and broke in California. She voted Trump but I just let it pass…she’s my neighbor and has the right to vote however she wants. I don’t talk useless national politics to divide my neighborhood. I just do stuff for all of us to join in and appreciate each other because neither party gives a crap about us little people. I think these protests are very counter-productive in terms of community energy but I guess some people need to scream and divide and virtue signal…it’s sad you can find nothing better to do and I’m truly sorry for you…
You’re such a liar
Ummm….Trump won the election both popular and by electoral votes. But y’all call him a “King”? And spew hatred because y’all “love democracy”?! That’s pretty f’ed up
Don’t use, “y’all” unless you are from the American South. It’s sounds as fake as me trying to use, “hella.”
Your talking about the no kings day folks, right!
Do No Kings protesters respect the votes of their fellow citizens?
No. They deride, insult and divide. Then call themselves righteous and loving….It is so weird (and not in the good way)
Poor you nobody want to kumbaya with you. You’re cast out until we decide you’re safe enough for normal society. Personally, I’m like that Brad Pitt character at the end of Inglorious Bastards and I cannot abide and want everyone to know the bull ka ka you been up to other folks are more forgiving. I have to pray to Jesus to help me carry the burden of this hardness in my heart towards you. I feel like you are unsafe and dangerous.
I respect the right of every eligible voter to cast a vote. What they vote for, not so much.
Yes- We must give all the support to the Iranian government that we can! It’s time to weaken America and embrace our sworn enemies!!
All that dirty black market weed fried your brain.
I will be there singing my heart out with my friends and neighbors.
Y’all come out and sing with me. We have a great time.
