Warrant Service Turns to Foot Pursuit on Bald Hills Road
A warrant service on Bald Hills Road turned tense Friday when a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office deputy lost radio contact with dispatch during a foot pursuit, prompting an emergency response from other units.
According to HCSO Public Information Officer Erin Inskip, deputies were serving a warrant when a suspect fled on foot. When dispatchers lost contact with the deputy, a Code 33 was declared, restricting radio traffic to emergency communications only, and additional deputies responded Code 3 with lights and sirens.
Several tense minutes passed before the situation was resolved. Dispatch announced a Code 4 — the scene was secure — with one person detained.
The incident occurred approximately one mile up Bald Hills Road from Martins Ferry, north of the Hoopa Valley Reservation.
