Crash Sends One to Hospital, Says Arcata Fire

This is a press release from Arcata Fire District.

On Wednesday, July 10 at 5:44 P.M. the Arcata Fire District was dispatched to a traffic collision involving two vehicles on K street at 6th Street.

First responding units arrived to find two vehicles, one of which had flipped and was overturned The driver of the upright vehicle was immediately transported to the hospital and sustained moderate injuries.

The driver of the overturned vehicle was extricated from the vehicle by four firefighters and an ambulance team, then transported to a local hospital for treatment of moderate to severe injuries.

The cause of the accident is unknown and being investigated by Arcata Police.

We would like to send our thanks to mutual aid partners Arcata/Mad River Ambulance and Arcata Police, and to remind citizens to use caution while driving at any time of day.

the ’cause’ of this type accident is usually poor situational awareness and poor decision making. Many times inebriation is involved!

That’s what all those sirens were about! I hope the person is okay.

We need to fix K St., sooner rather than later.
