Man Runs Vehicle Into Man Who Allegedly Brandished Firearm, Says HCSO; Patient in Critical Condition

On August 7, 2021, at about 11:45 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Bald Hills Road near Lady Bird Johnson State Park for the report of a firearm brandishing and traffic collision.

Deputies arrived on scene and located an injured adult male victim lying in the middle of the road. The male was transported to an out of area hospital where he remains in critical condition. Deputies also contacted an additional adult male on scene who told deputies he struck the victim with his vehicle out of self-defense after the victim threatened him with a firearm. The firearm was located at the scene.

This case is under investigation by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division. No arrests have been made at this time.

Anyone can pull a gun , takes more balls to pull the trigger, takes training to hit what you are shooting at and even more to do it when you are threatened instead of threatening someone. There is a reason why 35 percent of persons fail to fire in their first few fire fights some never are able to, and while you might think you can or will you will never find out until that day comes.
