LOL, there are hundreds if not thousands of cases in the county. One in eight days is stumbled upon and you ask if there is a wave?

There are estimated to be 25 to 50 X the number of known cases. That is why the death rate nationally is so low it’s akin to flu numbers.

I thought I saw someone post yesterday or the day before that the official strategy is to get herd immunity. That has been bugging me because that can’t be true, at this rate 80% infection rate won’t be achieved till the year 2157. That is one hell of a lockdown.

June to July will feel good, with new awareness to safety in the spaced crowds.

July and August you’ll be free to visit Europe.

Today the CDC made it clear that as far as can be determined, having this disease DOES NOT CONFER IMMUNITY. Thus “herd immunity” is not likely to occur.
Stay safe by continuing to shelter in place, wash & sanitize, wear masks. Protect yourselves & protect the rest of us.

Herd immunity does not confer TOTAL immunity. Our bodies build up resistance and future cases become less severe. I’ve had the flu two or three times in my life. Others will never ever get it. We are all a little different. But we need to get to “herd immunity” to lessen its impact toward us generally.

By sheltering in place and killing everything we touch with bleach we are weakening our individual immune systems and setting our selves up for a spike in cases with negative outcomes rather than more mild outcomes.

No exactly what was said. There’s no proof because medical science requires specific test to determine it and these tested are not yet available. That is not the samevas it doesn’t convey immunity. In fact there is at least on small animal study that indicates it does- https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.13.990226v1.article-info but has not been replicated nor peer reviewed. It would be a real stunner if it doesn’t as most related corona virus do convey some immunity.

“The health agency says it is reviewing evidence on antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19-infection. The brief says “most” of the studies show that people who have “recovered from infection have antibodies to the virus.”

But as of yesterday, no study has “evaluated whether the presence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 confers immunity to subsequent infection by this virus in humans. ” is what WHI saud- no study, not study proved anything. https://www.ctpost.com/news/article/National-coronavirus-updates-US-death-toll-15225716.php#dfpAd-dfp-1

I was also thinking today that we will have to deal with this at some point and we seem to be pushing that out to wildfire season when we will all be in the high risk category because of smoke, that seems extremely short sighted. If you want a worst case hospital scenario that is it.

To make matters worse, the USFS and Cal fire havent even hired up or started training their seasonal firefighters yet this year due to Covid. Usually they would be hired and starting soon for seasonal fire refreshers..so it will be skeleton crews for a while other than inmate fire crews..

I really agree with the notion that the people in charge of this shit show need to have their pay pulled till we have plans and solutions that make sense just like the people they have pulled their checks from. You’d have thought it was the end of the world watching the news tell of the poor suffering government workers who might miss their second paycheck in a row. Now the government and media are all fully employed and we are told to tighten our belts and be strong for the good of the country. After abolishment of Germany’s constitution of freedoms hitler blamed rich people for the problems of society and gave the masses free money and empty promises through the use of illegitimate funds and fear based biased propaganda. He called his new parliament The National Socialist Party of Germany. His new rules and laws were called The Order. Sound familiar?

No one else with any modicum of power in this country seems to think they have a right and a duty to demand a competent chief executive of the Federal government in this strange, but enormous, crisis.

A year down the road, we as a society will be done for living in a lockdown situation till than. Open up the country and get back to normalcies?, 2 million dead. That’s still less than 1% of the population….. sometimes sacrifice is needed to better the whole. This is nature telling us something, we as a species need to stop ignoring the fact that we are the problem.

Everyone is hurting, but some of us have the maturity to not lash out in frustration like spoiled children, as well as the intelligence to understand that you cannot influence a virus! Opening too early will just lead to more cases, further economic shut down, and more damage overall.

Those intent on exercising their “rights”, which is apparently the right to get the rest of us sick and possibly kill us, should be identified and they and their families should be denied medical treatment if they come down with the virus.

And many of the measures are unnecessary, even destructive. “Social distancing” has been conflated into “stay-at-home” and then “stay-at-home” turned into “everyone-keep-away-from-everything-indefinitely” which ends up being the glacial slowing of naturally acquired immunity and thus the need for more “stay-at-home” orders.

What is needed and will end up being done as soon as officials get over their power rush, is targeting areas of concern like hospitals, nursing homes, people with health issues, mass gatherings- places where the spread can have dire consequence. Then let everyone else get on with getting it and getting over it. It’s comforting to test everyone but not necessary because none of this is really surprising. Just make people nervous, which is not the same as needed.

The pretty much same number of deaths occur whether the delayed or not except for vulnerable populations, who will be better off if the virus becomes rarely encountered because most people have immunity. “Flattening the curve” would be better termed “deferring the deaths” because preventing them is an illusion. Except for those caused by the stresses created by extreme measures over time.

The need for testing has become politicized. Every scientist, epidemiologists, and infectious disease specialist is asking for more. Most every governor, red or blue, is asking for more. Their requests are simply to make the president look bad? Why do we continue to let our politicians question science?
Because anti-science beliefs have become predominant in this anti-intellectual administration. Trump seems to acquiesce to the scientists and medical professionals on camera, then backtracks to appease his dumb ass base.

Um, no. 350,000,000 times 0.0001% is 350. 350,000,000 times 0.0001 is 35,000. % adds 2 zeros. The correct death rate is 0.016%. Still, that is ridiculously small to commit economic suicide, the pain and suffering from this will be at least a decade. Again, I guestimate the death toll from the shutdowns will be 5-10% in the end, with a final virus death rate of under 0.05%, the economic shutdown will be 100x worse and that is just the death rate, the suffering on everyone will be unimaginable. There is absolutely no reason for this unless it is the plan. The shutdowns are ordered from global governance organizations and followed diligently by unelected technocrats in every nation who through emergency power have usurped control from elected officials. Put your thinking cap on.

There was one doctor who signed off on every death certificate of anyone who ever smoked cigarettes with a cause of death due to smoking simply because he felt that it needed to be said. A lot of people think a death certificate cause of death is guided by strict science. It’s not. Unless an autopsy is performed what is on the death certificate is one man’s opinion. Sometimes an informed opinion but sometimes not so much.

If everyone wears a mask, businesses will be able to open sooner. This is not a conspiracy to take over or run us into debt. The same measures were used in 1918. Social distancing, masks and no large gatherings are the only thing that works to slow spread. And yes, if we only have a few people get sick this first round it’s more likely to have a lot more the second round….in the fall. And we are still waiting to see if immunity is even gained by having had the flu. And for how long. If we are lucky the virus will lose potency over time and have death rates more in line with annual flu. I am in the over 60 group. I am really grounded and will be for months to come, if not for the next year. So quit complaining and put your mask on.

I’ve been trying to find the death statistics in 1919 for this now famous comparison about affects of isolation between those two Amercan towns in 1918. It’s been too hard to tease out. But it could be that while slowing the flu deaths in 1918, the subsequently non immune people made the 1919 waves worse.

“The California health expert was asked whether everyone will eventually be infected with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, Cody said, “Yes, probably at some point.””
https://www.dailywire.com/news/everyone-will-likely-be-infected-with-coronavirus-at-some-point-health-official-says

It is constantly repeated that lifting the proactive restrictions too soon was what lead to the most deadly wave of 1918 flu returning. But it could be equally likely that a mutated, more deadly strain was able to run through those who avoided exposure during the first wave and thus had no resistance to the mutated stain. These subsequent waves were not equally deadly around the world. Could it be that the hardest hit places in the first wave were less vulnerable in the following waves? It’s just an uncongenial idea that the people who like the idea of control rejection a huff. If they can trot out the idea it was a lack of keeping up the social distancing, they never address the fact that such strict protocols are impossible to keep up and maybe “Another possibility could be that some populations may have acquired a degree of immunity against the pandemic strain from comparatively harmless seasonal flu strains that were circulating in the years running up to 1918.”

The BBC article is the only one I’ve been able to find that even looks at the issue. Everything else, especially among the American media, simply pretends the question doesn’t exist.

“The first places open for regular business should be government buildings and offices. Starting in DC.

If the White House isn’t doing public tours then the rest of the country is not ready to open.

If your state’s capital building is not open to the public then the rest of your state is not ready to open.

If your governor is not out shaking hands and kissing babies then it’s too soon for the rest of us.

If your city’s court house and mayor’s office aren’t open for regular business then your city is not ready.

If the governing body and lawmakers aren’t ready to take those risks then what does that tell you?”

People who get paid with others’ money no matter what are just freer to play safe. At least until the tax money dries up. Now there is luxury.

Dinha,

It tells me it’s not just about the virus it’s also about politics.

Gov. Newsom is doing great, He’s getting the publicity he wants for free on CH. 2 noon news and the people mostly like what he’s doing and what he has to say.
It’s good for his future run for POTUS.

Pelosi has made a ass of herself so she can mostly stay in the safe SF bay area and scheme with Adam and Schummer on impeachment 4.0

Huffman, Huffman who?

And by all means keep Joe out of public view for as long as possible!

Media can keep ratings up by bashing Trump everyone’s favorite punching bag, while scaring the public into submission.

For the republicans it shows how pathetically the people in power have been running the country, where priorities have been instead of where they should have been and hopefully how to get out of this mess we are in with our constitution intact.
It’ a tall order to accomplish.

Meanwhile the Government officials for the most part get a LONG paid vacation.

The first responders, grocery clerks, truck drivers, postal workers and food producers get to be the hero’s and rightly so because they take the risks. Thank you!

just a few examples.

Now there is a post designed to attract attack from the TDS afflicted people. They are sure that not being as rabid as they are in hating Trump means safety in the most scurrilous attacks on posters. It’s not even necessary to say you approve of Trump- just that you don’t scream invective at the mere mention of his name is enough to relieve them of all responsibility for their hyperbolic invective.

Lets say for a minute we are past this crisis. What about the next one?

What if there was a EMP attack? Whats being done to harden the grid? Are the supplies to fix the grid made in China or the USA? Are they stored where we can get to them?

What if we have a couple more bad farming years? How much food storage does the USA have? How quickly can it be distributed? The meat plants are already shut down AND owned by China in this pandemic. You don’t have to hate China or Chinese people to be smart enough to control your own food production.

Look around your house folks , what do you have that’s not made in China? They are good people with a horrific government wake up! They own your movie theaters and Hollywood.
Everything right down to the plumbing in your bathroom is made in China.

Who has been working on these kind of issues? Do you care?

I know it’s not as much fun as wearing pussy hats and bashing the POTUS but they are important to me.

You don’t have to give me an answer but at least think about it.

Now I ask you who wants to bring manufacturing back to America?
It couldn’t be POTUS could it?

How much trouble could we be in if we don’t?

Sorry I don’t care how ass backwards his speech might be to some people, but I do care if medications are made in America.

I also care when TDS ers bash Trump without a thought about larger issues. But the China bought Hollywood & Media has taught them to do that. Thanks Alex Baldwin even Bill Maher is starting to wake up, just a little bit.

Come on people your children have more to be concerned about than this one virus.
