Fire in Eastern Humboldt/ Law Enforcement Responds to Help With Evacuations

According to Lt. Steve Knight of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department there has been a fire in the Hoopa area. A request from Hoopa Tribal Police was sent for deputies to assist with emergency evacuations. California Highway Patrol, Arcata Police, and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department responded by sending officers to their aid. Knight believes the immediate threat is over.

[UPDATE] Breaking: Report of Fire in Blocksburg

UPDATE 5:50 p.m.: According to a Cal Fire spokesperson, today’s fire occurred at a motorhome near Homestead Road north of Blocksburg. The fire spread into a small nearby structure. Fire Reported Last Night at Mattole Beach Still Burns

Cal Fire Press Release: At approximately 7:30 p.m. on May 26, 2014 a fire in driftwood was reported in the Mattole Beach area. The Petrolia Fire Department and CAL FIRE responded with fire engines and handcrews from High Rock Conservation Camp. The fire burned a little less than three acres in driftwood and grass before being contained early this morning.
