A 911 caller reported a woman shot near a remote Oregon road, but she wasn’t found until the next day. The man now charged in her death was her partner.

A probation search on 1st Avenue in Rio Dell led to a new arrest after nearby residents raised concerns about suspected drug activity at the home.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, “During the search, deputies located a stolen handgun, ammunition, body armor, a flare gun, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and DMT.”

The Hoopa Valley Tribe has issued a strongly worded statement condemning a judge’s decision to temporarily release the juveniles charged in the killing of Dylan Moon for ceremonial purposes, saying the move caused “profound pain and outrage” and that victims’ families were not notified before seeing the suspects at ceremonial gatherings. Tribal leaders say the family learned of the release only after seeing the suspects in the community.

The suspect “fled into the Trinity River and climbed onto a large rock in the middle of the river. He refused deputies’ repeated commands to return to shore and surrender. During the incident, [he] made statements threatening to drown deputies if they attempted to approach him.”
