Driver was in and out of consciousness according to the article. Sounds like it may have been a medical emergency. Maybe wait for more info before rushing to judge.

Sometimes when you’re driving down the back roads a Humboldt county a building will just jump out from behind the redwoods right out into the middle of the road and you’ll crash into them if you don’t put up your disabled parking pass fast enough.
I hope the driver will be fine. Going in and out of consciousness could be from a medical issue that just happened or the driver already had. The driver could have also fallen asleep at the wheel or had a mechanical problem with the vehicle.
