Sweet as Spice: Young Terrier Mix Cinnamon Ready to Add Flavor to a New Home

If your life feels like it could use a little more spice, the Humboldt County Animal Shelter may have just the ingredient: a young Irish Terrier mix named Cinnamon.

Estimated to be about eight months old, Cinnamon arrived at the shelter on March 3 and has already started showing staff her charming mix of calm sweetness and youthful curiosity. Indoors she tends to keep things mellow, but once outside she’s ready to turn up the flavor—trotting around with the lively interest you’d expect from a young terrier still discovering the world.

Cinnamon currently weighs about 28 pounds and likely still has a little growing to do. Like many dogs her age, she’s in the “everything is new and interesting” phase of life. According to shelter staff, she may not have spent much time living indoors before, but she’s quickly picking up on the joys of being part of everyday home life—things like hanging out with people, exploring the yard, and possibly investigating the mysterious rustling sound that might (or might not) be a snack bag.

When it comes to other dogs, Cinnamon seems curious about meeting them but prefers companions who keep things on the calmer side. In other words, she’s happy to make friends—just maybe not the kind who immediately tackle her like a long-lost sibling at a family reunion.

With her scruffy terrier whiskers, bright expression, and young-dog enthusiasm, Cinnamon still has a lot of chapters left to write in her story. Shelter staff say she’s the kind of pup who will likely blossom even more once she finds a stable home where she can keep learning about life, one adventure at a time.

Who knows? If things work out just right, she might become the sweetest thing in the house—no baking required.
