Discover Humboldt: ‘Minibike Mayhem on the South Jetty Dunes’

Dock’s latest Discover Humboldt episode gives viewers a look at the “Minibike Mayhem on the South Jetty Dunes.” Dock writes:

After a week of storms, my son, our Golden Retriever Mekko, and I took advantage of a brief break in the weather and went to Table Bluff to have some fun on our Mini Bike on the South Jetty Dunes. Located off Highway 101 out below Table Bluff, this is one of Humboldt’s OHV dune areas that is underrated fun coastal stops that never disappoints.

In this video, we take our supped-up minibike out for a test on the dunes and let Mekko enjoy some beach time while the tide moves in and out. The open beach make this a perfect stop when the storms finally ease up.

🌊 In this video you’ll see:

  • Table Bluff overlook of South Humboldt Bay, California
  • California North Coast scenery after a storm
  • South Jetty Dunes
  • Coastal trail views along South Humboldt Bay
  • Beach time with our Golden Retriever Mekko
  • A fun time on the beach at Sunset

Hundreds of acres of duns have been scraped clean of grass and habitat. About four miles down.

Do you know why?
My theory after seeing it on the ground, was that they were trying to mitigate erosion. They moved a lot of sand.
