Search Warrant at Smith River Home Leads to Two Arrests on Drug, Firearm and Child Endangerment Charges

On July 9, 2026, deputies from the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of officers from Pelican Bay State Prison, served a search warrant in the 2400 block of Fred Haight Drive, Smith River, Ca.

Upon arrival, nine people were located at the residence. After a search of the residence and property, two people were arrested and booked into jail at the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office.

Mariah Bowers-Owens, 34, and Jose Lopez, 37, both of Smith River were arrested on numerous felony and misdemeanor charges involving narcotic sales, possessing narcotics while armed with a firearm, possession of illegal fireworks, child endangerment and keeping a place where narcotics are sold.
