Traffic Collision Blocked Highway 101 South of Leggett

This afternoon, a traffic collision briefly disrupted travel on Highway 101 just south of State Route 1, near Leggett, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.

At about 12:11 p.m., reports came in of a white pickup with a trailer on its side in the southbound lane. Initial calls indicated possible injuries, but by 2:40 p.m., CHP updated the incident classification to a non-injury crash.

The collision left the trailer’s rear axle out in the northbound lane, and authorities requested a heavy-duty tow truck to the scene.

All in One Towing from Ukiah was dispatched to assist. By 12:29 p.m., one-way traffic control was in place to allow vehicles to pass the site.

Sadly for regular travelers, according to the CHP page, the incident also created potholes in the crash scene. Caltrans QuickMap shows traffic moving normally in the area now.

CHP logs show the roadway was reopened after the tow company arrived and cleared the scene. No injuries were reported.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Looks like a single vehicle incident with no collision involved.

Looks like it got the wiggle waggles and flipped him around a few times. Must of been quite the ride.

What was that trailer? Looks like an interesting vocational special build…And a squirrelly tow apparently! Part of a little rock sorter maybe? Carny ride from the Humboldt Fair perhaps? The pickup might have been a little too little for it!

That was my first question as well. Not famaliar with any trailer resembling this one. Appears to look like a tow behind man lift of sorts. Definitely too large for the truck. Smashed the whole back end😮

Usually a ‘wiggle-waggle’ trailer has an insufficient tongue weight.
Too light of a tongue weight and you’re in for a ‘wild ride’.
