Press release from the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office:

The North State Marijuana Investigation Team (NSMIT) has been hard at work this spring to eradicate and build cases against the black market marijuana industry in Siskiyou County.

In just one case last week on June 4th, a search warrant was served at a parcel in the Mount Shasta Vista Subdivision that resulted in the eradication of 903 illegal marijuana plants and 90lbs of processed marijuana.

Last year, the NSMIT team successfully eradicated 332,871 illegal marijuana plants and 54,070 pounds of ready to sell product.

During the course of these warrant searches of cultivation sites, the Sheriff’s Office made 118 arrests and seized 34 firearms on site. In addition, over 80% of the illegal cultivation sites contain dangerous foreign-labeled pesticides which are both known carcinogens extremely toxic to humans, animals, and the environment in which it is spread.

As we enter another busy summer for illegal cultivation, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating the illegal marijuana industry, holding those responsible accountable, and protecting the health, safety, natural resources, and quality of life of the residents of Siskiyou County.

As with all crimes in this county, we encourage the public to call our office at: 530-842-8300 or report suspicious activity via our online portal: https://www.siskiyoucounty.gov/sheriff/page/online-reporting

Considering the small amounts confiscated, I doubt that there will be any effect on the progression of the “legal” market…

Cannabis is a great artform, but “great cannabis” is for aging, jaded drug dilettantes who have figured out how to live without working too hard…

They are pulling out wine grapes, can Cannabis be far behind?

Hey! Wanna smoke a number?

“Let’s roll another one, just like the other one. You’ve been holding on to it, and I sure would like a hit…” Seriously though, from the farmer’s point of view there’s no need to “pull out” an annual. You just stop planting and move on.

On the consumer side, us former dope-smokers gave it up decades ago…

I still eat a gummie, on occasion…

Haven’t had a glass of wine in 35 years, though…

I think you just don’t water the vines, and then apply bulldozer…

The magic of weed is that it can be grown anywhere…

Try it at home!

Who are you referring to when you say “us former dope smokers?” You and your 5 buddies? More cannabis is being ingested by more people than at any point in history.

I have nothing wrong with someone using weed, but to have more people using it at any point in history is not a good thing either.

That certainly explains everything…

I actually think that the Software Engineers have switched to vapes…

It’s fun to get high, but 24/7?

That flower you guys grow is WAY too strong for old people, and I couldn’t smoke a damn Picogram of it without having a mindless job like washing the car or mowing the lawn…

When Dementia is creeping, you realize that smoking dope and having Alzheimer’s probably are pretty close, experientially…

AND, there are more humans than ever, so that’s something else to consider…

Not anywhere. Certaintly not anywhere that sees temperatures drop below 22°f at any time during it’s growth.

Most of the “Humboldt Flower” in Yuba City is grown in “Home Depot” buckets on somebody’s sunny screen porch or right out in the backyard…

Rarely gets to 22, however…

You think farming a plant that produces a product worth $100 to $300 per pound & requries seriously labor intensive farming techniques in a 115°f greenhouse & even more labor intensive processing is not hard work?
You would not be able to handle how difficult it is I guarantee that.
Oh & then there is the knowing that you might earn no money & possibly go to jail on top of all that.
No type of farming is easy. Someone has to do the work. That may be the owner or it may be hired help.
I bet you would go insane just trying to properly manicure 5lbs.

I used to work on a Prune Ranch driving a Kilby Prune harvester 14 hours a day seven days a week, during harvest, when it was 100+…

So never assume anything, because I started working when I was 10 and retired at 66…

Now I waste my time at craft fairs for pennies/hour, so if you don’t make enough money, hell, it’s America!

Make more money!

As we enter another busy summer for illegal cultivation, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office remains steadfast in its commitment to not even come close to making a dent but we’ll make it seem like we are and we appreciate all the taxpayer’s money.”

“Illegal Cultivation” is a pretty stupid concept, kinda like “Cultural Appropriation”…

Working hard to produce an overproduced product seems stupid and futile, but so does shooting rockets into space for Trillions of bucks…

Maybe go to College and then Law School, or become an Airline Pilot, for some REAL salary…

Lots of people’s stuff gotta go somewhere, and lots of Seniors need a Living Trust…

Umm oh yeah Pluto’s Cave and such. We’ve been talking about this huge Hmong growing area for years and it still is going on but there are a couple token busts a year meanwhile the area is pushing out thousands of pounds but oh yeah let’s let the sheriff pretend this bust even matters?

IMHO:

Post Mountain on Steroids.

Miles and miles of Hmong dope greenhouses.

Cut down the trees for hoop houses.
Liquidating the water table in that area.
Entire region will end up a desert.

And local dope dealers wonder where the money went.

Nobody cares.

That looks like bad landscape management. These operations could be in balance w their surroundings but they don’t have the education and the current policies will do 0 to help or eliminate the problem. Surprise surprise. It’s all where u lay your eyes
