[UPDATE 7:45 p.m.] Armed Standoff With Ambulance Requested
At approximately 4:00 p.m., a robbery took place on a cannabis farm north of Laytonville near Highway 101 and the Black Oak Ranch, according to Mendocino County Sheriff Matt Kendall.
Jim Tuso, former Mendocino County Sheriff, posted on Facebook at 6:25 p.m., “Pray for our MCSO Deputies who are in an Armed Standoff north of Laytonville! Medical and Fire have been staged.”
Some law enforcement and an ambulance are reported to be staging at Camp Winnarainbow’s driveway.
Scanner reports described four black male adults and one unknown were suspects. Two were reported to be armed with AR-15 rifles.
At approximately, 6:40 p.m. scanner traffic indicates that three suspects were detained.
We are closely following this fast breaking situation and will update as more information comes in.
UPDATE 7:12 p.m.: Multiple readers are reporting seeing the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Bearcat (a type of armored vehicle) headed to the scene.
UPDATE 7:41 p.m.: Mendocino County Sheriff’s Captain Greg Van Patten told us the SWAT team has been deployed and five armed suspects are believed to still be in the area.
Captain Van Patten asks the public to avoid travel in the area of 5000 50,000 block of North Highway 101 in Laytonville.
UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: In regards to our report about the three people detained, the situation is still ongoing and fluid. Capt. Van Patten tells us, “”3 people were detained but unknown if connected to the incident.”

Yes but there’s few people who are vocally in support of or justifying tailgating/not pulling over as if it was a good way of life without problems. Pot on the other hand has a fanatical based of users and growers who don’t see anything problems with their actions. Yes a gas station or bank can get robbed too but they do not advocate for the mafia as good loan agent or avoiding environmental laws to sell gas from plastic tanks from a back yard to avoid taxes. Pot has an outlaw history and culture. That it attracts outlaws to prey off it should be no surprise.

That is where the ambulance was reported to be staged. Not the same thing as where the incident is located.

This is west side of 101. Probly 4 or 5 miles north of lville. And a couple miles back on dirt roads
Yes deputy units and Bearcat just passed Willits Bypass. I gave Kym heads up earlier about this developing story, I have been following this since mid day on the scanner, it started as a report of a woman being held by 3 males armed with semi auto rifles, there were shots fired mid day before deputies found the location. Bear cat passed Willits about 7:10, I would assume there must still be suspects standing who have not been brought into custody by the fact Bear cat was flying with lights and sirens on. Tis the season to be alert and careful. Lots of new faces in the hills this time of year. Be safe everyone in your harvests and endeavors. Stay alert and keep your neighborhoods safe

Incorrect. A period of time 28 days, between the new moons of each month is called Moon. I have lived here since ,1993. I am born at Ft. Washakie Eastern Shoshone Reserve. There are different types of ripoff. The light of the moon can help the sneaky patch thief. A moonless night might be better if the plan is to invade someone’s home and rob them that way. Either way, a dog and a pump action shotgun are good friends for a farmer to have.

Exactly, what is common here is valuable elsewhere, so we get this inner city people coming up to rip off our neighborhoods and farms. Good thing we have a Sheriff and District Attorney who prosecute to the fullest extent. Many weed thieves who got caught in Mendo doing home invasions are sitting in prison as we speak. They dont realize that most farms are armed and people dont hesitate to call 911 for a home invasion. The law actually states that you cannot have a gun on your premise. Your premise is not the same as your property. You can have a gun legally registered to you, locked up in your residence that is not listed as premise on your state map. Your premise is your cultivation area and any other area that had been identified as being used for cannabis. You house does not have to be part of your premise.

They wouldn’t pick up and direct unit to unit communications outside of their immediate area.

I think there should be a scanner renaissance. They’re cheap enough, and when you know how to use them and decipher what agency you’re hearing (many have channel naming called alpha tagging etc) to follow a conversation through other transmissions, it’s a powerful safety and information tool, not just in these circumstances but for fire and whatever else.

The killing took place on Michelle Bushnells land on Connick Creek in Kimtu, where her people were living and “caretaking” . the killing took place inside the trailer on bushnells land, then they set fire to the trailer to hide evidence , then they took the dead body and dumped it by the Community Park . Ask the The DA, the sheriff, Arson Task Force, the Dept. Of Justice, the CHP, they all were part of the investigation at Bushnells property.

I live at —- 12345 West road potter valley. Theres hundreds of grows seen from the road. Make sure not to tell anyone to drive that way. Or anywhere else in Northern California. Come on!! Google earth no need for an address. Type in a Mendocino hills address scan there ya go. The hills are alive. Google earth is a huge verticle privacy issue.
I appreciate both of the above responses. Still, for the farms that are in the hills, hidden away, an address makes finding farms easiest, yes, with google earth as a close second. The former of those options could be prevented by regulatory changes. The other is a horse that’s left the barn (as would be any address that is collected now, should they be hidden later).

I won’t mention where, but I see farms in the central flatlands of MendoLand that are very obvious pot farms with tree sized pot plants extending way past the fences… and I know places in the hinterlands with no security fences at all…

We’re so sick of these thousands of illegal grow operations, drug & crimes fests using our tax paid resources, endangering our LEO Families, and destroying our communities and lands. Maybe the drug dealers should hire and pay for their own security to protect against their fellow peer drug dealers and fellow criminals. Maybe don’t call 911 the next time you bring criminals into the county when your criminal drug deal goes south. Instead, deal with it yourself.
