[UPDATE 5:30 p.m.] Missing Man’s Vehicle Located Near Weott

Grater’s sister-in-law Shauna Cox said that his wife was only notified today that the vehicle had been located. “Several friends and family have been down there looking for him today with no luck,” she explained. “So we really need to have the public’s help by reporting anything they may have seen regarding him or the vehicle around last Monday/Tuesday in that area, no matter how small, like time of day or if he may have been with someone.”
Grater is 32 years old. He is 6′ tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He has blue eyes and short brown hair. 
On the right side of his chest, he has a tattoo. (Picture below shows the same one on his wife’s shoulder.) He also has a tribal tattoo on his left shoulder.
Cox said that she believes there will be a search tomorrow. We’ll update with more information on that as it comes in.

A more specific location of where the rig was found along with the make & model might be helpful. This would be a great time for a tracking dog. It’s cold out. No time to waste.
I’ve asked for more information. I’ll pass it on and a photo of the vehicle if I can get it.
It’s in the large turnout just north of Marin grove on the river side, parked facing northbound. It’s tagged and appears to have some sort of child safety seat in the rear passenger side.

I drive by that spot regularly, tons of cars get dumped there and usually set on fire. I’ve reported several over the years. With the weather I didn’t get out and notice this car until Saturday 2/16. I thought it was out of the ordinary because it’s a nicer car and the front windows were left partially open, strange with the amount of rain we’ve been getting. I also noticed a large police presence in that area earlier in the week but did not know what it was related to.

People disappear in southern Humboldt hope it’s not a drug deal gone bad but there’s so many of them nowadays it’s hard to keep track they just kill people don’t care I feel sorry for his family I hope they at least find his body

Excuse me CLAUDIA JOHNSON we want only positive thoughts and comments. And what the hell do u mean I hope they atleast find his body? You don’t know what happened or if it was even a drug deal or bad situation, so you really need to watch what you say, I mean unless you do know something more than the police and his family and if that is the case then maybe the sheriffs should be contacting you for questioning? Either way have a little more respect for my cousin and our family as well as for the situation.

Id highly recommend going to the homeless camps. The sheriffs in garberville can tell you where theyre at.

What an ignorant comment on southern Humboldt! !!! I guess because of murder mountain series people are scared to come here!!! Was talking to an hvac guy from ukiah in g Ville yesterday who’s taking all the calls for southern Humboldt because all his competitors down there and in Santa rosa are scared to death to come here after watching it.lol. they we’re telling him to be careful because 800 people a year go missing around this area. He had a aunt and uncle here and spent alot of time growing up here so wasn’t afraid he said let them think that more work for me

I’ve seen his car there for about a week stopped to look inside because I saw a car seat there was a plaid jacket in the seat but nothing seemed weird except the windows on the passenger side were down and it was raining pretty hard. Stopped today 2/19 and looked again and the jacket is gone. I hope his family can get the car because it’s going to start being vandalized I’m really surprised that the car is still in good condition usually after 2 or 3 days people start breaking windows and ripping it to pieces. Pray he’s found
if the police were in the area as mentioned above then they might have taken the jacket to use for a tracking dog.
Ryan is a good friend of mine. This is very scary for his friends and family. We hope that he is found alive and well. If anyone can get out to the area try found his car, and hike the area, that would be helpful. There needs to be a search for him… Whether the public steps up or the sheriff’s dept.
