Hearings on County’s Proposed Budget Taking Place Tomorrow

Humboldt County iconThe Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will hold two public hearings on Monday, June 15 on the county’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-27 Proposed Budget, a $657.8 million spending plan that funds essential services and programs that support local residents.

Hearings will be held on Monday, June 15 at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Board Chambers on the first floor of the Humboldt County Courthouse, located at 825 Fifth St. in Eureka. An overview of the proposed budget, which funds the services and programs that support nearly everyone who lives, works or visits Humboldt County, will be presented.

Following the conclusion of the Budget Hearings, the county’s budget will be presented for adoption in a special meeting on Thursday, June 18 at 1:30 p.m. Members of the public unable to attend the budget hearings or the special meeting in person may do so on Zoom and provide written comments in advance by email to [email protected].

How to Participate

Hearings represent an important step in the county’s budget process. The annual budget is the most significant policy decision made each year by the Board of Supervisors as it provides an estimate of the county’s resources and sets a legal limit for spending by county government.

The proposed budget presented to the Board of Supervisors on June 9 reflects that the County of Humboldt must continue adapting to changing conditions to ensure the county can provide the services the community needs for the long-term.

Humboldt County’s 2026-27 Proposed Budget document is available for review online at Humboldtgov.org/Budget. It is also available for public review at the Clerk of the Board’s Office in Room 111 on the first floor of the Humboldt County Courthouse, at 825 Fifth St. in Eureka, during regular business hours.
