Bicyclist Recieves Major Injuries After Collision With SUV Near Garberville

A bicyclist received major injuries Sunday evening after being struck by a gray Toyota RAV4 on Redwood Drive near Alderpoint Road north of Garberville, according to information from the California Highway Patrol CAD page mirrored on the Lost Coast Outpost and scanner traffic.

The collision was reported at approximately 6:53 p.m. Initial reports indicated a vehicle had collided with a bicycle on Redwood Drive and the bicyclist was down in the roadway.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene as scanner traffic indicated the bicyclist had sustained significant injuries. Traffic was stopped in the area while emergency personnel worked at the scene and CHP officers responded.

The bicyclist was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

By approximately 7:37 p.m., CHP reported the roadway had been cleared and units were wrapping up their on-scene investigation.

At 7:44 p.m., CHP upgraded the incident from a traffic collision response to a major injury collision.
