Mendocino County Monitors Federal Medicaid Delays as IHSS Services Continue Uninterrupted
Press release from the County of Mendocino:
Mendocino County Department of Social Services (MCDSS) is closely monitoring recent federal announcements that may impact healthcare and social service programs across California, including funding connected to the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program.
Recent federal actions include the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) decision to delay more than $1 billion in Medicaid reimbursements to California as part of broader anti-fraud initiatives. Federal officials also announced a temporary six-month pause on new Medicare enrollment for hospices and home health agencies.
At this time, IHSS services in Mendocino County continue without interruption.
IHSS provides critical in-home care services that allow older adults and individuals with disabilities to remain safely in their homes and communities. Currently, the program serves 2,513 Mendocino County residents and supports 2,447 approved care providers countywide.
While the full impact of these federal actions is still being evaluated at the state and county levels, MCDSS leadership is actively monitoring developments and maintaining communication with state partners to understand any potential effects on local services.
“MCDSS remains committed to protecting access to essential services for our community’s most vulnerable residents,” said MCDSS Director, DeNeese Parker. “We understand the uncertainty these announcements may create and want the public to know that services continue as normal while we carefully monitor guidance from state and federal agencies.”
The Department will continue providing updates as additional information becomes available and remains focused on ensuring continuity of care and support for Mendocino County residents.
