Early Morning Rollover Crash on Highway 162 Sends One to Hospital

A solo vehicle overturned early this morning on Highway 162 west of Covelo and at least one person was injured. According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch log, the crash was reported at approximately 4:22 a.m. near mile marker 22 on Highway 162.

Initial reports indicated a single vehicle had crashed and people did not immediately get out of the vehicle. Moments later, callers reported hearing voices coming from the overturned vehicle, which was resting on its roof and blocking the southbound lane.

A responding firefighter later advised dispatch that a 2013 Mazda would require a flatbed tow due to front-end damage. The injured occupant was transported to Howard Memorial Hospital.

CHP requested a tow truck from McCaffery’s Towing, and the vehicle was removed from the scene. The incident was ultimately turned over to the CHP Ukiah Area office for investigation.

The cause of the crash has not been released at this time.
