[Update: Road Closure] Road Work Planned for Garberville-Redway Area Starting This Week

Humboldt County road crews are scheduled to begin a fiberized micro surface project on roads in Southern Humboldt this week, with work expected to run through Wednesday, June 3.

The project is funded by Measure O, the local road funding measure approved by Humboldt County voters.

“We are grateful to the voters who supported Measure O,” a County Roads representative told Redheaded Blackbelt. “Their investment in local infrastructure has allowed County Roads to make meaningful improvements to our roads, and better serve our communities.”

The work involves applying two layers of fiberized micro surfacing — a road preservation treatment. The first layer is scheduled for late this week, with the second layer following early next week.

Affected roads by date, weather permitting:

Thursday, May 28: Redway Drive and Redwood Drive (eastbound, reversing traffic control)

Friday, May 29: Bear Canyon Road, Melville Road, and Redway Drive [Road work may include delays up to 1 hour and impacts to Bear Canyon Road may inhibit access to the Renner fuel station on Bear Canyon Road.]

Monday, June 1: Church Street and Redwood Drive (westbound, reversing traffic control)

Tuesday, June 2: Redway Drive, Redwood Drive (eastbound), Bear Canyon Road, and Melville Road [Road work may include delays up to 1 hour and impacts to Bear Canyon Road may inhibit access to the Renner fuel station on Bear Canyon Road.]

Wednesday, June 3: Church Street, Redwood Drive (westbound), and Redway Drive 15 min

All dates and times are tentative and subject to change. Drivers should expect delays and plan accordingly.
