The U.S. and Iran announce a deal to end the war

After thousands of casualties, economic damage, and months of fighting, both sides ended up agreeing to negotiate many of the same issues that existed before the war?
Can someone please tell me what was accomplished. Besides the U.S. spending over $30 billion on an illegal war that is.

It will leave Iran in a stronger position than before the war, the US with far less leverage in the region, and Israel in the lurch. The deal will also prompt the Arab states in the Persian Gulf to reassess their security alliances with the US and come to terms with Iran as an influential regional player.
It also calls for the release of US$24 billion in frozen Iranian assets during the 60-day negotiations, and obliges the US and its allies to deliver reconstruction plans for Iran worth at least US$300 billion.” https://theconversation.com/a-peace-deal-may-bring-an-end-to-the-iran-war-but-what-did-the-us-and-israel-truly-achieve-285241

It also means the US scored a major own-goal in its competition with China:
The conflict has opened opportunities for China to strengthen its economic centrality and displace America as a provider of public goods to countries in need.
Longer term, Beijing will profit from the war-induced demand destruction for oil. China is in pole position to cement global market share for the renewable energy technologies it dominates, such as solar, wind, electric vehicles, and batteries.
China also will seek to build a narrative contrast between itself as a reliable steward of the international order versus America as a violent and reckless pursuer of its own interests.”

But, if we’re lucky, maybe we can get back to something close to the nuclear deal that was worked out during the Obama administration. You know, the one Trump tore up.

President Trump just delivered PEACE through STRENGTH! After months of conflict, Iran has agreed to his proposal—ending the war, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and securing the region without wasting endless American blood and treasure. No more weak Biden-era appeasement. Trump forced the deal on America’s terms. America First wins again!

And that’s not all—Trump is also delivering real reform on cannabis by rescheduling it and expanding medical access, something the leftists should have done decades ago but never could.

As a former Green Party member and Democrat, I watched those parties transform into something unrecognizable: perverted radicalism far removed from the sensible Democrats of even 10 years ago. They’ve abandoned the working class and common sense values. That’s why so many of us are returning to the ideals and principles we once cherished—values that Republicans now best represent, the same ones Democrats stood for 20 years ago. Strong leadership, practical solutions, and putting America (and her people) first. Historic wins under Trump!
