Christopher Monroe Ellis
September 20, 1993 – May 3, 2026Christopher (Chris) Monroe Ellis was born on September 20, 1993, in Eureka, California. Chris was born and raised in Humboldt County, where he cultivated many lasting friendships and explored his numerous hobbies. It is with great sorrow that his family announces on May 3, 2026, Chris passed away in his sleep unexpectedly. He left behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and curiosity.
Chris enjoyed a robust social life, including having played World of Warcraft since 2007 for The Horde. Many people knew him by his online username, Akrimere. His current guild, Halløwed, is a top ranked guild on their server. He was influential during their Sunday raids as a Mythic and Pusher. He was well loved and respected in the communities he joined and helped build. WoW was one of Chris’ long-time passions that he enjoyed with old and new friends across the country.
He was engaged in several Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, where he was known for his lore knowledge. He reveled in creating deadly traps for the other characters within the campaigns. You could not walk down a hallway without tripping over a hazard he created. His characters were always imaginative, with strange, unexpected, or humorous twists. His love for D&D extended to others, as he introduced many of his friends to the community.
He was an avid collector of Magic the Gathering cards. He regularly played in tournaments both in person and on MTG Arena. His specialty was meta deck builds, where he found great satisfaction creating infinite loops against his opponents. He was proud of the decks he built, including signed cards by card artists and creators.
Chris was a learner by nature. He enjoyed taking classes and speaking different languages, especially German. He took foreign language classes in high school and college and continued developing his skills and historical knowledge of linguistics in his personal time. He recently graduated from College of the Redwoods with two separate associate degrees. He had plans to continue his education towards a bachelor’s degree.
Chris is survived by his father, Mitchell Ellis; his mother, Kerri Ellis; his sister, Brianna Pendrak (Dylan); his grandmother, Susan Ellis; his uncle, Clinton Ellis-Gilmore (Bill); his great grandmother, Lodena Tidwell; and his aunt and many cousins. In addition to his California family, Chris was loved by his aunts, uncles, and cousins in England.
His grandma, Susan, was special to Chris. They enjoyed going to lunch together and making jam to share with the family. However, he did not so much enjoy her craft projects growing up, as he often deemed them too messy and sticky. His parents are grateful for everything that she has done for, and with, him.
His family would like to thank Blue Lake Casino Hotel for their hospitality and compassion.
At the family’s request, no services will be held.
He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him.
