[Great News!] Family Seeks Help Locating At-Risk Eureka Teen Last Seen in Arcata

Young girl with pink hair and piercingsThe family of Talia Evelyn Rose, a 14-year-old from the Eureka area, is asking for the public’s help in locating her after she reportedly left home Tuesday morning, April 8, and has not been in contact since.

According to her father, Talia was last seen in Arcata, around the Plaza area, in the company of two girls and a boy. Her family describes her as “definitely at risk” and says the lack of communication is deeply concerning.

Talia is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and approximately 140 pounds. She was last seen wearing sweatpants and a grey hoodie. She is nearly 15 years old.

Her family has been actively working with law enforcement and support services in an effort to find her. They report being in contact with the Eureka Police Department, Arcata Police Department, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, crisis counseling services, and local schools, but so far have had no success locating her.

14 year old girlEarlier this year, community members helped bring Talia home safely after a similar situation. Her family is hoping that increased awareness will once again help lead to her safe return.

“We’re hoping that with more eyes looking, it will help again,” her father wrote.

Anyone with information about Talia Evelyn Rose’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Eureka Police Department at 707-441-4060, or call 911 if the information is urgent.

As with all developing situations, information is based on what is currently known and may change as more details become available.

UPDATE 11:00 a.m.: Wonderful news. Talia has been located safe by the Arcata Police Department.

What a relief for her family and for everyone in the community who shared, watched, and cared.

To Talia: you matter. There are people who love you and want you safe, supported, and able to find your way safely to a place of happiness. May you feel the love that is sent your way.

To Talia’s family: our hearts are with you. The fear of not knowing is something no parent should have to carry alone, and so many people were and are holding you in their thoughts.

Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word and kept an eye out.

This is why FORTUNA pd, hospital and clinic need to do their god damn jobs. They botched the shit out of a serial killer case nov of 2022! But don’t listen act like it’s a joke like fortuna did, AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS.

I really wish I could say I’m joking. But I have never been so serious in my life. On average someone disappeared or showed up dead every two to three months since I turned him in. That fortuna guy finnley was floating around the mouth of the river about 2 months ago. I can’t name all the names that disappeared but 2 homeless a week apart in blue lake, Ken bounds eureka, Roy tsatoke arcata, a body floating in the bay, ect. Ect. Fortuna police put forth VERY LITTLE EFFORT investigating , THEY DIDNT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY, the stupidist part was ( it was a poisening case) redwood memorial actually diagnosed me with 2 symptoms of ARSENIC POISENING, AND OPEN CLINIC DIAGNOSED ME WITH A 3RD. And nobody even realized it. The icu doctor called me homeless and walked off. Open door clinic told me they lost my patient file when I called and told them they just diagnosed me with 3 symptoms of arsenic poisening. I GOOGLED THE THINGS I WAS DIAGNOSED AND THEY ARE ALL SYMPTOMS OF ARSENIC POISENING. THEN THE F##KING POLICE TOLD ME ” THAT GUY PROBABLY DID POISEN YOU , BUT DONT COME BACK HERE WITH IT? Fortuna couldn’t solve jack shit , which explains why Johnny Davis is still running around. Fortunas OTHER serial killer.

He also ties back to a cold case in cooper gulch eureka 95. And worked with Eric day at ace hardware in fortuna who disappeared in 97. But all these cases are in different jurisdictions and i dont think anybody is in touch with anyone else.

Are you referring to James Jones? That’s pretty significant with him working at Ace when Eric disappeared!
What is the cold case you’re referring to in Coopers Gulch?

Why are so many commenters unhappy with this contemplation of James Jones? I can see that in the sense that it would have freaked out the parents of this girl, Talia… but she is found now, and i am curious about Jones. Is he out loose?

James Jones is the person I think you mean in the Fortuna missing women’s cases.
Johnny Davis is still missing from Covelo while he was out hunting.
I am with you on Fortuna not doing shit toward investigating things properly. James Jones is a menace to society and I believe he is currently incarcerated on stalking charges from Scotia. They couldn’t get him for the murders, so they locked him up asap for what they could prove.
If someone poisoned you, that’s horrific. Law enforcement should take that very seriously.
I sure hope this young lady Talia is back home safe as soon as possible.

I would be curious to see a source regarding Fortuna not doing much in terms of investigations. Is that conjecture?

This is in Arcata and your issue is not theirs. If you’re continuously that upset with Fortuna maybe you need to talk to someone that isn’t a comment section.

My sediments exactly.
We all should refrain from making statements that don’t move the conversation forward.

You do not sound well. Your comments are not helpfull for the girl’s family.

If your claims are true, go figure out where/how to file grievances. You constantly take space w/ the same complaint.

Go for a mental health checkup before is too late for you & you become the news.

Bears are not allowed into any buildings to seek mental health treatment. Guess he is going to be the news.

Isn’t “a Bear” a nickname for someone who fits the stereotypical description of a heavy set gay man with lots of facial hair that wears plaid and likes manly things like motorcycles?

Yes, “a Bear” is one nickname for a man who is heavy set with a beard and wear plaid shirts, and some do ride motorcycles. Just be careful on how you greet the bear.

I hope that will not be the case. I hope someone, here, know whom this individual is, & will reach out to help them get the mental help they need/deserve.

Why does this girl run away? There could be something happening that she is just trying to get away from. It’s concerning about her age. I hope she is found safe and sound.

She has Good loving parents and a safe home. Bad influences in school from kids with derelict parents and substances are to blame.

That’s a bummer. Glad to hear she has a solid good family. Just never know when a teen keeps running away.

I was her at one time (about 69 years ago!). I recognize the ‘face’. It’s the worst disease known to man – adolescence! The best thing to do with a strong-minded person is to LISTEN TO HER ( if you can get her to open up!). I don’t care how silly it sounds to others, it’s her entire world at the moment. I had no-one back in the day (50’s) and left home at 13 (matured early). Made sure they couldn’t find me. Ended up with a major fight with alcohol (drugs were not that prevalent at the time, thank goodness) and now, at 83, I’m looking back on a life, some of it wasted. (Not only strong-minded but stubborn, as well!) If the parents are unable (what teen listens to parents; they’re dinosaurs!) find a good therapist.

She will continue this behavior until she grows out of it (for women, about 19 to 22), and it could get her killed or worse (yes, there are worse things than death. Call it a living death. Ask any homeless person).

Meanwhile:

I see you, Talia.

This community isn’t your babysitter. When you let kids just do whatever they want you can’t be so surprised when you end up with no control over them or respect from them. Once shame on the kid, twice shame on you. This is a result of problems at home or lack of parenting which seems to be real common these days.

Probably had to grow up fast in her household.
1- CPS should investigate the underlying issues of this run-away-kid

2- CPS should direct the family to resources

3- the parents, in this family, need to be willing to follow through – if help is offered

I’m glad they found her and she is safe at home now.

I hope she doesn’t draw spirals like that on her forehead anymore because I have seen reporters online saying that the spiral means something to adult predators.

She’s smart and stupid and needs a caring advocate. Humboldt County Social Services would be a good place to start.
