Community Workshop Series at the Center for Sustainable Development Focuses on Practical Skills and Community-Based Building Education in Humboldt County
This is a press release from the Center for Sustainable Development:
Communities across Humboldt County are facing growing challenges related to housing insecurity, workforce development, and access to practical education.
The Center for Sustainable Development in Arcata is launching a series of hands-on workshops focused on carpentry, repair skills, sustainability, and community-based learning to help expand access to practical building knowledge and collaborative learning environments.
The initiative aims to create accessible spaces where community members can learn tool safety, construction basics, repair skills, and sustainable building practices regardless of prior experience.
Long-term goals for the program include supporting future community projects related to tiny homes, emergency shelters, repair culture, and workforce training.
Organizers say the workshops are intended to help strengthen local resilience by encouraging practical skill sharing, community collaboration, and hands-on education.
Community members interested in participating, volunteering, teaching workshops, donating tools or materials, or collaborating on future projects are encouraged to follow upcoming announcements from the Center for Sustainable Development.
