Maybe he was walking and slipped and fell down into the rocks. He probably was on a trip from Yukon Oklahoma to see the sights along the way. He may have stopped to look at the beautiful ocean. May he RIP. My condolences to his family and friends.

Yes, that sounds about right. Wouldn’t be the first time such an accident has happened along coastal cliffs in the state.

I am afraid it won’t be the last either. Just sad.

There are parts of our coast that are completely unforgiving. One wrong move and you are toast. The natural beauty is overwhelming to some, but we always need to consider what could go wrong while enjoying it.

I think most people are overcome with the beauty in a special spot and don’t consider the risks if not careful.

Too bad he won’t be around to go back to OK and tell his people that there are places much more beautiful and worth preserving than that flat-earth hell hole. Voters from OK bear a disproportionate responsibility for causing harm to this earth.

WTF? Comments like these cause disproportionate harm by the sowing of continued divisions… Why wasn’t this comment moderated out?

Kym — if you have the ability and the integrity to do so, please consider updating your commenting guidelines on posts involving deaths. Allowing harmful or insensitive remarks reflects poorly and impacts the entire community. Setting clear boundaries and expectations is both simple and necessary, especially in today’s environment. I believe doing so would earn greater respect for both you and your work.

See? It devolved into a political fight. It could have been avoided but partisanship won out. Shame on you.

Inohofe. Markwayne. Trump 66% in 2024 winning every county, and still pulling a 57% approval rating.

Thanks, Oklahoma

Here we go again….trumpers blaming everyone else except the real problem. You can thank Obama and Biden for preserving our national parks, etc. Trump on the other hand destroys anything good this country has in order to make more money. Its going to take awhile to fix the mess hes put us in. You call Trump and [edit] pro-american? Thats a good one! HA!

Trump’s the one throwing Ukraine to Communist Russian troops and kissing Communist dictator Putin’s butt (uh, oh) and imitating his mentor Putin’s asininity by starting a war of choice that will bleed us and the world out. Whew!

That’s just for starters. Try following the news. Major MAGA mavens are FINALLY getting sick of destroying-civilizations rhetoric from this obscene caricature of an American President.

Well, yeah, but I support Kym’s rule with broad limits. Hell, I’ve been moderated a time or three. Leave the censorship, intimidation, and oppression to Trump and his acolytes and supplicants. We don’t want to become Masala. I share your contempt and fear of Trump Republicans. Vote ‘em OUT, OUT, OUT. DOWN, DOWN, DOWN.

Interestingly, Oklahoma is Cannabis-friendly, unlike its neighboring states.

oofta, you are correct that it is sad he won’t be going home alive to tell the people what a beautiful place it was by the ocean. Oklahoma is not all flat. There are a number of beautiful mountains to go along with the flat land. Oklahoma has done nothing more to hurt the earth than many other states. I assume you are talking about all the oil wells.

Martin, I have to concede you are correct and my over-characterization is a bit hyperbolic. I’ve seen parts that were quite beautiful with rolling hills etc.

Yes on the oil, but moreover the serial stream of national politicians that fiercely represent the fossil fuel industry and are antagonists to all conservation and environmental causes. It was Inhofe that famously brought the snowball to the Senate floor in a stunt to discredit global warming.

And I was actually half-serious that this unfortunate escapee from OK will be unable to share stories and pictures from his travels. You see license plates from many states in California, but very rarely one from Oklahoma. They should get out more, then they might vote differently.

Kym, think you meant “This is a press release from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.”
