Cal Fire ordered additional resources to the scene, including air support and ground crews working toward the ridgeline.
A homeowner on a bulldozer worked alongside firefighting efforts and had established a dozer line around approximately 90 percent of the fire as of the latest scanner reports.
No injuries or structure losses were immediately reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Update 4:28 p.m.:According to a Cal Fire helicopter pilot’s report heard over scanner traffic, the fire is looking “good,” with the air crew holding off on dropping water as ground crews continue making progress. If the helicopter is not needed, it will land nearby until cleared to leave the area. The fire is estimated at 5 acres. The Mill Fire incident commander estimated a two- to four-hour commitment.

This fire is most likely human caused.
I’m thankful that Calfire crews and air support were on it quickly. I live in the east hills of Ukiah and any fire that starts up here can quickly get out of hand.
