[UPDATE 9:22 p.m.: Vehicle Description] Vehicle Found in Klamath River Near The Glen

water search continues featureA vehicle was located in the Klamath River this evening near the Klamath Glen boat ramp just north of the Humboldt County line, according to reports from emergency responders.

A post on the Del Norte and Curry County Scanner Feed Facebook page at 6:48 p.m. reported that Klamath Fire and the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office were responding “to the boat ramp (in the Glen) for a vehicle in the water.”

Shortly afterward, at about 7:32 p.m., the Yurok Tribal Police Department confirmed that a vehicle had been located in the river downstream from the Glen.

“A vehicle has been located in the Klamath River, downstream from the Glen,” the department stated in a Facebook post. “Officers are currently on scene assessing whether anyone is inside.”

Authorities asked the public to avoid the area while officers investigate.

The statement added. “More updates will be shared as soon as additional information is available. Stay safe!”

It was not yet clear how the vehicle entered the river or whether anyone was inside.

This story is developing and information may change as more details become available.

UPDATE 9:22 p.m.: The Yurok Police posted at 9:10 p.m.,

The submerged vehicle has been identified as a white sedan with dark tinted windows and sunroof (make and model undetermined at this time due to water levels and submersion).

Officers remain on scene continuing to assess the situation. The Del Norte County Search and Rescue team has been activated and is responding to assist with recovery and investigation efforts.

Please continue to avoid the area near the Klamath Glen to give first responders space to work safely.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Stay safe, everyone. #KlamathRiver #KlamathGlen #LocalAlert #DelNorteSAR

That is the Roy Rook launch facility. Geez, it wouldn’t be hard to drive right into the river there.
Vehicles in the river is nothing new in the Glen area. Hope this doesn’t have a sad ending.
Thanks for the report Kym.
