Nighttime Search in Klamath River Ends After Lexus Pulled From Water Near The Glen

Lexus pulled from Klamath RiverPersonnel working with the Yurok Tribal Police pulled a white Lexus sedan from the Klamath River near the Glen late last night after earlier reports that a vehicle had gone into the water at the boat ramp area just a couple miles north of the Humboldt County line.

The incident was first reported at about 6:48 p.m. Saturday when the Del Norte and Curry County Scanner Feed noted that Klamath Fire and the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office were responding “to the boat ramp (in the Glen) for a vehicle in the water.”

The Yurok Tribal Police Department confirmed that officers had located a vehicle in the river downstream from the Glen and were assessing whether anyone might be inside.

Late Saturday night, at about 11:36 p.m., the department reported that the submerged vehicle,  a white Lexus sedan, had been successfully pulled from the river.

“Fortunately, no one was inside the vehicle,” the department stated. “The cause of how or why it ended up in the water remains under investigation—we still don’t have details on that.”

Officials thanked responding personnel from the Del Norte County Search and Rescue and other emergency responders who assisted at the scene. Authorities said the area was cleared after the vehicle was removed.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about how the vehicle ended up in the river near the Glen boat ramp along the Klamath River to contact the Yurok Tribal Police (707) 237-5702.

As a long time resident of the Glen, I recall a similar event where a local person would purchase a vehicle and couldn’t afford the payments, so instead of having the vehicle repossessed, they drove it into the river (at the same place).
I don’t know if this is the same situation, but it seems to be.

Could be

Or could be stolen and dumped

I once chased off a burger at the house across the street from me. Couldn’t catch him. He left a stolen car in the driveway. HSO didn’t bother to run the plates and it was stolen from a car dealership.

The boat launch facility where the car was “fished” out is hidden from view because of the flood control Levy. Lots of lawless activities happen there.. it is also a dumping ground for trash and everything else.

Run VIN. Is it reported stolen? Either way, check with registered owner. Are they missing? Follow up appropriately based on circumstances. Doesn’t seem like Sherlock Holmes or Columbo required to sort this out. If necessary, I am available for consultant work.

Maybe not Columbo but I bet Beretta or McCloud could find some extra clues. If not bring in McMillan and Wife…

How lucky the DNSO is to have such advanced experience available.
I’m sure they’re deeply relieved to know what they’re supposed to do now.

If you’re going to be snotty, you could at least learn to read. This is being handled by Yurok Tribal Police, not DNSO.
