Oh yeah, America’s a fascist nightmare: one all-powerful dictator for life, zero elections, total state control of the economy, banned opposition parties, censored press, and mandatory loyalty oaths to the Leader. Totally checks every box from Mussolini’s playbook. Sure thing. 🙄

Peace? You’re kidding, right?
No deal has been worked out, and the sides are very far apart on what they’d like to see.
Even Trump doesn’t really have a plan for moving forward: “It’s a memorandum of understanding, and if I don’t like it, we’ll go back to shooting at them, dropping bombs on their heads. I don’t like it if they don’t behave. We’ll go right back to dropping bombs right smack in the middle of their head.”
This is the act of a confused old man who is desperate to get himself out of a mess he never should have gotten into in the first place.

Basic MAGA strategy— take a non-existent problem, blow it way out of proportion to get the base all riled up to justify some dramatic solution and then declare victory without accomplishing anything and violating numerous laws along the way leaving things worse off in almost every way.

Yep, the DNC in particular seems remarkably oblivious to the real problems facing the majority of folks in the country. Or at best they pay lip service to it while doing nothing to solve the problems. And then folks like Mayor Mamdani comes along and shows them what solving problems actually looks like and they get upset.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy trump finally capitulated.
But we shouldn’t forget that this was an unnecessary war that killed thousands of people, cost over a hundred billion dollars, destabilized the world economy, strengthened China, and emboldened Iran’s hardliners.
And, for all that, Trump didn’t even accomplish what he most wanted:

Here are fact-based rebuttals to each point: and we all know how much y’all love facts 😝

• Ongoing bitter resentment and jealousy of the Obamas: Policy disagreements (e.g., Iran deal, economy, border) aren’t “jealousy.” Trump and supporters criticize specific records and outcomes, as opponents do with Trump.

• Sabotage of Obama’s ironclad Iran deal for Agent Orange’s inferior 300 billion dollar one: Obama’s JCPOA had sunset clauses, allowed enrichment, and didn’t stop Iran’s ballistic missiles or proxies. Trump withdrew over those flaws; any new 2026 deal is an interim step amid different circumstances—not proven “inferior” or $300B giveaway.

• Enact their atrocious Project 2025 agenda: Trump distanced himself during the campaign. It’s a Heritage-led conservative policy wishlist; administrations implement selected ideas, not entire blueprints.

• Label everything woke that is deemed anti white conservative male: “Woke” critiques specific cultural/DEI policies seen as divisive identity politics, not blanket anti-White/male hatred. Debate centers on merit, free speech, and biology vs. ideology.

• Marginalize blacks’ hard fought voting rights by dissolving their districts into larger red districts: Redistricting follows census and court rules; both parties gerrymander when able. Claims of racial vote dilution face VRA challenges. Partisan maps are legal if not purely racial.

• They love to chant USA as if their side is truly patriotic while cozying up to enemies: Patriotism includes strong borders, energy independence, and “America First” foreign policy. Engagement with adversaries (e.g., Russia, NK) is diplomacy, not coziness—compare to past administrations.

• Voted for a Fascist 3X: Trump won elections via voters rejecting alternatives. Historical fascism involves one-party dictatorship, state-corporate merger suppressing opposition, and militarist expansion. U.S. has elections, courts, free press (mostly critical), and no dictator. Disagreement ≠ fascism.

• Support of vanity projects i.e. ballroom & arch that is indeed tax funded: Specific projects debated on cost-benefit; infrastructure and presidential libraries have precedents across administrations.

• Support of Russia: Trump provided lethal aid to Ukraine (unlike Obama), sanctioned Russia, and increased European energy dependence critique. Policy differences on NATO spending and negotiation aren’t “support.”

• Blind loyalty to Israel despite all the civilian casualties…: Israel faces Hamas/Hezbollah using human shields post-Oct 7 attack. Support stems from shared democracy, intelligence, and counter-terror goals—not blind. Civilian toll tragic; blame shared with terrorists.

• Support the slush fund or payout for criminal Jan 6ers: Discussions of compensation for those claiming over-prosecution post-pardons; not blanket “criminals.” DOJ fund debates focus on “weaponization” claims.

• Perpetuate lies of a stolen election: 2020 had irregularities, mail-in changes, and lawsuits (many dismissed). Biden won certified; ongoing skepticism reflects trust erosion, not unique to one side (see 2016 Russia claims).

• Stock market manipulation: Markets fluctuate with policy, Fed, global events. Records under Trump pre-COVID noted; claims need evidence vs. normal volatility.

• Censorship for critics of their orange king: Pre-2025, Big Tech moderated Trump heavily (bans, shadowbans). Post-election, free speech emphasis contrasts prior deplatforming.

• Stage assassination attempts for sympathy votes: Documented attempts (Butler, golf course) by lone actors; investigations found no staging. Security failures real.

• MTG, Thomas Massie, Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson jumped ship: Internal GOP debate normal. Doesn’t invalidate broader support.

• Control the bodies of women: Abortion post-Dobbs returned to states/democracy. Opponents favor limits (e.g., viability) vs. no restrictions; “control” frames choice debate.

• Extreme abnormal loathing for democrats and liberals: Polarization mutual—see rhetoric from both sides (e.g., “deplorables,” “MAGA extremists”)

• Bring up left/right politics in literally every conversation: Hyper-partisanship is cultural; both engage.

• Iran War causing the collapse of major airlines: Context unclear; economic pressures (fuel, post-pandemic) multifactorial. No singular “Iran War” collapse confirmed.

• US debt that tops the economy for the first time…: Debt/GDP high for decades, accelerated under multiple admins (spending + COVID). Both parties contribute; sustainability debated.

• Redistricting scheme in deep red states: Both parties gerrymander where they control (CA, NY blue examples). Partisan advantage legal.

• Entrust SCOTUS to swing elections in their favor: SCOTUS decisions (e.g., Dobbs, election cases) follow law/Constitution. Court balanced by appointments over time.

• Blame their failures on Biden and or Obama: Legitimate policy contrast—e.g., inflation, border under Biden.

• Gerrymander mid decade at their leader’s request: Rare; follows legal processes. Both sides history.

• Bible Thump their hypocritical Christian views: Religious voters support policies aligned with values. Hypocrisy charge selective; secular critiques exist too.

• Cannot separate church and state: 1st Amendment prevents establishment; allows free exercise. Policy debates (e.g., schools) ongoing.

• No regard for the US constitution or proper congressional procedures for initiating wars: Debates on executive power bipartisan (e.g., Libya, Syria). War Powers Resolution often strained

• Support their orange king no matter what: Voter loyalty common; policy/results matter. Criticism exists within coalition.

• Incessant use of their lame go to term TDS: “TDS” mocks perceived irrational Trump hatred; counterpart terms (“MAGA cult”) used too.

• Suppress minority civil and voting rights: Voter ID popular across races; turnout records in some cycles. Fraud prevention vs. access debate.

• Support PDFs (assuming “fascists”): Circular; see fascism definition.

• Redact millions of pages of the E-FILES / Only release half…: Transparency disputes common (both admins). Full release complex for security/classification.

• Support the killing of citizens by ICE: Enforcement of immigration law; “killing” implies excess—focus on crime/deportation stats.

• Incessantly claim 2020 election fraud when in fact they cheated in 24 by buying votes: 2020 skepticism persists; 2024 had high turnout, legal spending. Evidence thresholds differ by side.

• Rollback healthcare for all: ACA imperfect; debates on mandates, costs, alternatives. No full repeal.

• Pad the pockets of billionaires: Tax cuts (2017) broad; growth arguments. Wealth concentration trends predate

• Rollback Equality Opportunities for marginalized groups: Shift from race/gender preferences to merit/equal treatment.

• Start Trillion dollar wars: Afghanistan/Iraq earlier; recent engagements costly across admins.

• Alienating allies while befriending enemies: “America First” pressures allies on spending (NATO); results mixed.

• Balloon the debt deficit: Bipartisan issue; entitlements + spending drive it.

• Rampant high prices / Record high gas prices post pandemic / High Unemployment / Tanking the US economy: As of mid-2026, unemployment ~4.4%, stocks strong, growth modest but no deep recession. Inflation cooled from peaks; gas varies.

You do realize that a Memorandum of Understanding is NOT a peace agreement, right? All Trump did was basically give in, promise to pay the Iranians reparations for damages incurred during our attack, allow the Iranians to charge “fees” for ships navigating the Straits, and a promise to stop Israel from attacking Lebanon, something that Netanyahu has NOT agreed to do… in fact, quite the opposite. And those are just the highlights.

Some peace plan, eh?

Driving to work this morning and saw a Volkswagen bug that looks like it had an engine fire by Loleta on 101. Fire was out and chp were on scene. Old long haired guy was waving his arms around talking to an officer. Wish I would have got a picture, but AI made this and I feel it describes a whole generation who expected the government to provide for them after a life growing, smoking and dealing dope and still won’t, no matter how many times they vote or protest.

Dream on. It would take 32,000 M3 quakes to relieve the stress of an M6. And you would have to ride out 32,000 M6s to prevent the M9 monster that’s coming.

Keep in mind the rupture from the 1906 S.F. quake was 296 miles. It stopped at Shelter Cove. That was estimated 7.9-8.2. The smaller Loma Prieta 1989 quake rupture was a mere 25 miles. A 9.0+ is going to rupture from Salton Sea up the entire coast to Cape Mendocino.

The CSZ movement that may or may not follow is going to be Apocalypse scenario #2. Some coastlines are going to have to be remapped.

Abstract

With over a century since the last major rupture affecting the wider Los Angeles region, tectonic stress has steadily built along the southern San Andreas and San Jacinto fault systems, raising concerns of an imminent large earthquake. Cajon Pass, located at the junction of these faults, represents a critical site for potential through-going ruptures in Southern California. We constructed new 4D earthquake cycle simulations using a 1000-year paleoseismic rupture history of the San Andreas Fault System (SAFS) to assess spatial and temporal variations in stress. A semi-analytic Fourier transform model was used to compute stress from 3D dislocations in an elastic plate overlying a Maxwell viscoelastic half-space, assuming a complete coseismic reset of resolved shear stress on ruptured elements. Results show highest stress accumulation north of Cajon Pass (∼1.8 MPa/100 years) due to greater slip rates, and lower rates south of Cajon Pass (∼1.0–1.5 MPa/100 years). By 2025, Coulomb stress is estimated at 2.8 MPa on the Mojave South (MOS) segment, 1.8 MPa on the North San Bernardino (NSB1) segment and 3.6 MPa on the San Jacinto Bernardino (SJB) segment. Segments accumulate stresses with characteristic ranges of pre-event stress interpreted as failure thresholds: 1.2–2.7 MPa for MOS, 0.4–1.6 MPa for NSB1, and 1.2–2.9 MPa for SJB. When the stress disparity between segments SJB and MOS narrows, the faults appear to rupture jointly, suggesting that stress levels may control how Cajon Pass acts as an earthquake gate. These results may inform seismic hazard assessments by linking stress evolution to fault interactions.

Another business bites the dust in Eureka. Today I was at an outpatient surgical center and when I asked for they to call a cab to take me home, the nurses told me that city cab was expected to close at the end of the month. Not be sold. Just simply closed and assets sold off.

The cab driver told me that people on MediCal will be able to use the mediaide funded emergency medical transport, which is a separate business but those don’t on MediCal will have no other option. There is one man who runs a one cab business but there is nothing else. Nothing.

So while the county continues to lose business after business, those of us who depend on these business are simply screwed. This Board of Supervisors is going to turn the whole county bankrupt. Because the state will not come to save us when there are no businesses to pay taxes to pay welfare. The people who run those business are leaving the state.

DAR is run by City Cab.

Contracted I think. MediCal supports Non emergency medical transport but again only for those on MediCal. And I have no idea how reliable that is anyway. Usually the State doesn’t fund many MediCal adequately. Which is why there was a cab company in the first place.

Try North Bay Transport. Also Cab Louie in Arcata. Med Cal transport you can get via places like MTM Transit. Someone you know can get paid for your transport in their own vehicle, or yours for non-emergency things. I’ve used them in the past.

Dial-ride doesn’t go past the the 101 corridor from McKinleyville to College of the Redwoods. can only be used with a certified disability that makes using a regular bus impossible. And Flex is even more limited as it requires open seats on dial-a-ride, goes only from bus stop to bus stop to make riding the bus more convenient within the transit lines. And the hospital wouldn’t let you take it after a procedure anyway.

Geez. It’s like city people are so clueless about the Darkest Humboldt. At least be aware it exists.

So they released details of the “Plan”
Ummmm…

In extraordinary remarks on Wednesday, Trump went from threatening Iran with a new wave of attacks to suggesting the country had basic rights to enrich uranium for civilian use, that he would not pressure Tehran to abandon its ballistic missiles program and the US was “going to have to give back” billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets.

This is a response to cranky old lady’s deleted comment:

I know history well. It’s why I knew Volkswagen was a company founded by Nazis.

i don’t (and won’t) own German, Italian, Japanese or any foreign built motor vehicle.

Your emotions are projecting that I hate folks who drive foreign cars. I was bemused that an old hippy was standing next to a burned Volkswagen. Hatred never entered the equation.

I keep looking for a leader who I can vote for to lead a government that most of us don’t know exists. Government is best when it is an afterthought and is unobtrusive on citizens lives. Let me know when that leader materializes. In the meantime, I’m smart enough to vote for whoever I feel meets my objectives.

I’m smart enough to NOT vote for whoever an actor, “journalists”, a brain dead, lame-duck president, or the DNC tells me I HAVE to vote for, unlike the appointed Democratic option on the ballot in 2024.

Can you even imagine Kamala negotiating with the very shrewd Iranian fundamentalist leaders?!! Nightmare right there….

Nothing at all problematic about the current president’s negotiating skills here…

They invented negotiating, And have been perfecting it for thousands of years. They would have torn her to pieces. That’s why the American people voted her down. Her candidacy is why we have Trump as president. Just like Hilary gave us Trump. And his Supreme Court appointments. The American voters chose the lesser of two evils…that’s what elections are all about! Long live democracy!!

She would have been smart enough to not start an illegal war then find herself painted into a corner where she had to negotiate with them, then find herself right back where she started.
She also wouldn’t have torn up an agreement that was already in place.
But with Trump you can’t fix stupid.

Can’t tell if serious or trolling but you’ve got issues if 80 year old war feelings are keeping you from owning a foreign made vehicle. I’ve owned several. Japanese in particular. Does the WWII imperialism of the Land of the Rising Sun bother you? You realize how many Ford and Chevy components are foreign made? Enjoy that Amish buggy.

Montana Walmart cake maker goes rogue…

There are certain desserts one expects to find in the fluorescent glow of a supermarket bakery case. One of those things is cakes — anniversary cakes with pink rosettes, birthday cakes with colorful piping, holiday cakes with predictable messages. What you might not expect is a cake featuring an alien in a pink spaceship casting a beam of light, with the inscription: “Get in loser, we’re going to therapy.”

Why just sharing a stick while walking can significantly improve balance https://phys.org/news/2026-06-significantly.html

comment image

Researchers found that balance assistance was not simply mechanical support. Information-flow analysis revealed a strong directional influence from the stable, unperturbed walker to the slipping partner, concentrated around a narrow frequency band near 15 Hz. The findings suggest that rapid touch-based signals transmitted through a rigid connection help coordinate balance recovery and reduce instability after a sudden slip.
