Brodee Logan Montana Murrish, born on December 5, 1987, at the Jerrold Phelps Hospital in Garberville, CA. He was delivered by Mark Phelps and Carolyn Eldridge to his parents, Donald Eugene Murrish and Cherie L Meador Murrish. He passed on December 29, 2025, at home on the Wood Ranch in the arms of his mother.
We are deeply saddened to share the news of Brodee’s passing at the age of 38.
He loved sports and played on teams from first grade at Redway School through his graduation from South Fork High School. He played soccer, football, basketball, and baseball, and loved the competitive nature and teamsmanship that sports can bring. He also played soccer and baseball in Fortuna during summer and fall months. His favorite professional sports team was the San Francisco 49ers.
While living on the Wood Ranch, Chuck Studebaker taught Brodee some great life skills, such as how to fall trees and use heavy equipment. After high school, Brodee attended Southwestern Oregon Community College and earned his certificate in operating heavy equipment when he was 19.
Unfortunately, he suffered a major injury when he was 20, confining him to a wheelchair as a triple paraplegic. After stem cell surgery, he gained the use of his left arm. Though he tried mightily to regain the ability to walk, he remained in a wheelchair from then on.
Though Brodee suffered from adversity, he was always very positive with his friends and family, cheering them on in their successes, comforting them in times of hardship, and encouraging them to continue to strive to be and do their best. He loved hearing about people’s triumphs and strived to better himself through hard work and study as well. He had an easy charm that made people feel valued. He was generous with his time, encouragement, and love.
Brodee loved fishing, poetry, woodwork, and music. He had strong faith and trusted in God’s will and love. He believed in the power of prayer which helped him through many hard times.
He was first baptized by our Baptist minister by immersion; he and his brother Houston got baptized in the Eel River behind Pete and Bev Johnson’s home in lower Redway. He later also studied with the Mormons, Church of Latter-Day Saints, and was baptized again. Brodee was also a godfather to Ileana LaRue.
While Brodee was in the Meadowood Nursing Center in 2014, he met a young lady working there who was studying to be a nurse. He shared a picture of this beautiful girl and asked if we could bring her home. So, we invited her to the Ranch.
On April 12, 2017, at the courthouse in Eureka, he was married to Christina Timblin by his mother, Cherie Murrish and accompanied by his little nephew, Jahsia. On September 15, 2018, they had their beautiful wedding at Middletown Mansion.

You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Your memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew you, and in the stories we’ll keep sharing about the incredible people you were. Rest easy, friends.
