Hail at Sea Level, Snow on the Passes — Storm Photos From Around the Region

Hail covers B Street looking toward Broadway in Eureka Tuesday morning as the winter storm reaches the coast. Photo by Ryan Hutson.
From hail at the coast to accumulating snow in the mountains, the winter storm moving across the North Coast is showing up in dramatically different ways depending on where you are.

Coastal communities like Eureka woke to icy streets and bursts of small hail, while inland areas from Pecwan to Shelter Cove and along Highway 199 saw steady snowfall and plowing operations overnight.
We’d love to see what the storm looks like where you are.

No matter where you are, east in the mountains or down near the ocean, we’d love to see your view.

Downtown Arcata’s just wet. Thermometer says it’s 41°, down from 45 at 8:00. Just rescued some outdoor plants and still trying to get blood back into my fingers.
Kym, I hope you and the whole team get to stay home and cozy today.
Up here on the Oregon coast, right above the bay, it’s 39. And wet.
That 39 or 41 in wet conditions is a lot colder than a dry cold. It seeps into your bones more than the “dry cold”. Also makes for that oh so lovely black ice. 🙁
Yes!!! Just below freezing seems warmer.
I’ll take 5F and dry snow over 33F and heavy wet sloppy snow any day. One I can manage better, the other can be just miserable to be out in.
The sun is now shining in Arcata with hail still sticking in shady spots.
Cute, eh?
Expecting more tonight into tomorrow…
Well, I married me a wife
She’s been trouble all my life
Run me out in the cold rain and snow
