A 5th wheel trailer caught fire Tuesday evening in Myers Flat. The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. near the intersection of Myers Avenue and Boy Scout Road. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to surrounding vegetation.
In the photo sent to us by a reader, the trailer, identified as a “Dreamer” model, showed signs of fire damage near the front storage compartment area. Crews from CAL FIRE, including personnel from Engine 1272, were at the scene assessing the situation. The fire was contained before it could spread to nearby vegetation or structures.
No injuries were reported as of publication. Debris and belongings were visible around the trailer, and fire personnel were on scene until after sunset.

I’m pretty sure someone did that and I lost everything ! Myers flat got it all ! Well done . I didn’t have power in there , only a battery who was not charged very much ! Just for the record and for
people who want argue about what if and maybe is …. Thank to fantastic fire département of Myers flat who went at the other end of town to respond to a fire in a barrel…… And thank to cal fire engine 1272 for coming save the little
left of my home !!
Her “home” that she was illegally living in was illegally parked on the public right-of-way — in earlier times the law forbade the rich and poor alike from sleeping under bridges (and etc.) but those laws are not enforced in Humboldt County and many other areas so we have the public spectacle of bum camps blighting the landscape and vehicles, often in deplorable condition, littering the public right of way.
I am just as sick of these crappy living sites as you are. Time for Humboldt County to start giving out citations and if there not followed, remove the whole damn camp!
to where?
A dumpster. Many times, I come across these interim campgrounds there’s a pile of trash around it, near it, or dumped over the side somewhere. Too much to ask to clean their shit up I guess. I don’t care what a person’s living state, mental state, or even state of sobriety is, clean up your damn mess.
People too?
Guys are so fucking judge mental , I work my ass off , I grow food a lot of it . Life ain’t always easy . But because people like you some of us can’t move as fast as we want . I hope one day you’ll understand people aren’t all the same . I hope you never have y lost your home and have to read comment like that . Sad humanity , and you gouts claim
walo by the Bible how fucking hilarious shame on you
I don’t know you personally but in general, if these people can haul all this stuff to their site they can haul all the garbage to the dump or some of the free garbage cans that are all around the area. S*** all they have to do is put it in a bag and leave it on the side of the road for the volunteers to pick up, there’s absolutely no excuse..
Where they came from.
How to determine? Who pays?
Humboldt County can pay for their bus ticket out of town.
They can pay. I guarantee around 90% of them get a monthly check from the tax payers. Start docking their pay like they would do to any other citizen that doesn’t pay Their fines..
Let’s not pretend like people are mad because the homless are living in well kept areas. I don’t think many people would have a problem with homeless encampments if they weren’t on private land and weren’t health hazards and fire hazards to everybody that has to live around them. I think most people only ask that they’re held account to the same rules and laws that everybody else is..
Maybe to your property. Just kidding, I have given this problem a lot of thought and as of yet have not come up with a reasonable answer. Apparently according to one comment I read she was illegally living in the trailer, and it was illegally parked on a public right of way. If that was reported to law enforcement the trailer should have been removed from the area and destroyed as it was almost burned up to start with.
Under California law they are not allowed to remove a trailer or a car if somebody’s living in it.
Thank you for the updated information. Humboldt County SO needs to do their job, enforce the law and move these vagrants. Unenforced laws are the root of the problem.
Is that monster on Myers Ave the one that caught fire?
Sorry to tell you I was pending n a prop fucking idiot . It was just taking more time than first arrangement . And of course it was annoying for me as much than you . Life is not always easy , and we do our best . But hey you can enjoy the fact now I lost everything I deserve it right
You absolutely do not deserve it and there are hundreds of programs in this state to help people that are down on their luck, as long as you’re willing to follow the rules. So why don’t you go down to HHS and sign up for food vouchers, assisted living or at least a place in a shelter temporarily?
Jackie was just in limbo Myers Flat. She did not want to stay located there. She would have found a proper location sooner than later. She’s an achiever and does her best. She customized that trailer to be very nice. One of the nicest I’ve seen here in Myers Flat. Truth.
Jackie, want you to know that everyone surrounding your trailer there feel for you and wish you the best. Love and peace. Hopefully a blessing in disguise.
